As entertaining as that might be, I'll believe it when he starts using the OLD account to post.
That would be difficult since the memberpage says he was banned.

(speaking of which, isn't permanent banning supposed to be permanent?)

Ah. Since others posting here on ES about Electrathon have built non-lead packs for it, they must have several "levels" of racing (or different events) that allow different kinds of packs.

Re: looking for recommendations for BMS upgrade

Unless you pack the cells like they already are, as a "brick", you can't apply even compression across their faces (without building something with individual cell compression plates and edge-mounting hardware). Without even compression, they're going to swell/unswell, even if it's just minutely (an...

You must live in a really wierd place to require lead-type batteries on your bikes (or other vehicles).

Re: Strange problem with my bike. Controller?

Controller probably has blown FETs, shorted internally. http://ebikes.ca has a Learn page with Troubleshooting info on how to test for those.

The wheel rolling fine without ocntroller means wheel is fine, and so is wiring up to the point it connects to controller.

A really quick couple of minutes perusal of a search on RSP 1000 Current finds this https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=40692&p=608542&hilit=rsp+1000+current#p608940 that describes a couple of resistors that are used to sense current, so if you were to increase the resistance ther...

Re: R Martin EVD Moped with HubMonster

That's a fair bit of space. It's not quite as big as my cargobox under the seat on SB Cruiser, but I could still probably put both of my EIG NMC 14s2p 40Ah packs in there. :) If they were paralleled, that'd be 58v full, 400A continous current capability (800A peak)--I expect that could give that sco...

Like most leaning trikes, it's an expensive, heavy, and complicated way to do something that you could do cheaper, lighter, and simpler with two wheels. Perhaps, but a few possible points that I considered while pondering options on my BarkFiet ideas: --with a load of cargo, the difference in weigh...

Re: How to drive ebike using outrunner?

You can look up "sprotor" whcih is a brake rotor that is also a sprocket; that's one option. Might have to custom-make it if the size you need isn't available anywhere. You can also use a front dual-disc hub, with a longer rear axle in it, as a rear hub, and bolt a sprocket onto it on the right side...

My personal opinion is I wouldn't trust them not to just sabotage it (deliberately or more likely thru incompetence) so that it fails catastrophically during a ride. :/ If they're not even doing their work on the truing stand (I'd wonder if they even have one or know what it is), are they even check...

Re: Here is my nearly completed cruiser trike

The lead acid batteries are gone. I found early on that SLA sucks--but if it's what you have, might as well use it, so I did, cuz I could get them free (used, from powerchairs and UPS units). Once I started getting better batteries, I could appreciate how much better they could be than the SLA. ;) ...

Re: Repair to bent rim. Advice and help pls

I was just checking, because if it was just offset (dished) it's easy to live with (as long as you don't use rim brakes and the tire doesn't rub the frame), as long as it's fully tensioned correctly so it doesn't come undone as you ride. But yeah, 5mm is REALLY crappy. When I was first learning how ...

Re: Repair to bent rim. Advice and help pls

By "Out of true by a good 5mm", do you mean that it is out of round (oval with the high spots 5mm larger diameter than the low spots), or that it's laterally (side-to-side) "wobbly", where when measuring on only one side of the rim (to the frame) there's spots where it's 5mm closer to the frame than...

The only potential issue is if the controller has an HVC (high voltage cutoff) that is below the 36v pack's voltage range--if so, the controller will disable itself. AFAICR some of the Currie/etc stuff did this.

Re: R Martin EVD Moped with HubMonster

Most of the SLAs Ive run across that are "dead flat" at zero volts won't charge at all, ever again; they're destroyed. Many of them are swollen and cracked open at that point. Occasionally I will get one that accepts a charge, but even after it's full capacity has flowed thru it from the charger, it...

Re: Solar Cycle Analyst?

The only issue with using a CA to measure solar is that the solar power reads negative, That depends on which way you hook up the shunt. If current flows from the shun'ts BATT end to it's LOAD end, it's positive. The other way is negative. I think the CA has enough juice to handle the task if wired...

There are a few threads discussing rear brake options you could use. If you're handy, you could cut the U-brace with rim brake bosses off a junk suspension fork, and clamp/bolt (or weld) it to the rear stays, kinda like how I added them to this fork: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f...

Re: The SB Cruiser: Amberwolf&Dogman's 2WD CargoTrike&DogCarrier

Dual-pull lever setup worked great on the commute; much easier to use than the two Avid levers side by side, and pulls better (though half of that is probably the cable/housing changes).

Also no more brake squeal in turns due to having to have the pads so close to the rim, and due to cable routing.

Regarding this old post from last year, I've finally gotten the double-cable lever installed in place of the two Avid levers, and it's actually much better braking now (though I also changed some other things like cables/housings/routings at the same time, so if nothing else the single lever is a lo...

Basic simplified theory: Shielded cable just shields against external signals inducing into the center conductor(s) by sending them to ground. Twisted pair has currents flowing thru closely-paired conductors equally, so cancelling out induced noise. Practice can be a little different, depending on a...

Re: Using a 1000W DD hub motor as a generator?

I found a 4-pole on-off-on switch in the UK at a very low price. That's a double-pole, so you'd have to gang two of them to siwtch at the same time to get 4 poles, if you really need to switch all teh shunt's wires for your purposes. But just one will work to switch the shunt input side from the ch...
