I posted the wired article earlier, and it is a good one for anyone interested. I know the video of another cheat suspect has been posted before, but this is a interesting analysis. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gQv0_ypKEP4 Pretty stupid analysis, sorry mate! :) In this particular instance, the g...

### Re: DIY Anti-Spark Bullet Connectors.

Been looking for something similar to this, except I need it for 25s lipo with a 18 fet lyen 4115. Anyone know how many resistors would suffice? Not sure of the capacitance of the controller. Do the math: if 3 x 1K in parallel is ok for 12S, then 3x2k will probably be OK for 25S. If I knew the math...

### Simple corded to cordless electric Snow Blower conversion

Decided to make better use of my ebike battery by strapping it to a corded electric snow blower. Since I run 25s lipo, I figured this would be a simple conversion. After ordering a Snow Joe 625E for \$210 shipped from Home Depot, I made an adapter to get from the standard blower plug to the battery. ...

### Re: Lipo charging in parallel = Self balancing cells (?)

The cells individual voltages will almost always diverge when voltages are lower than 3.65 v. Unless you bottom balance, the cell voltages should converge as you reach peak voltage (assuming you had top balanced prior). Its not unusual.

### Re: Need Help on Lithium Upgrade! I'm going the same speed!

You bought a bigger gas tank, not a faster motor. You need more amps, not more amp-hours. You probably need a different controller.

### Re: 9C brushless motors. how far have you overvolted?

The Pikes Peak racer used a 9C at 111V, ventilated the side plates, and also trained for a year to get into the best possible shape so he could pedal along as much as is possible. I don't recall the amps, but I am certain it was at least 30A continuous (and likely more than that), so 100V X 30A = 3...

Thumb throttle seems the obvious solution. You won't be worried about hanging on tight (around a corner) while inadvertently twisting the throttle (hopefully not).
Doing "neutral drops" on an ebike is not recommended (unless you are drag racing).

I've been to those caverns. Pretty cool.

Maybe to even the odds amongst bike styles, we need a "triathlon" type race. Maybe a shorter sprint race, a hill climb, and a longer race. Each would test different aspects of the same bike, exposing weaknesses.

### Re: Definitive Tests on the Heating and Cooling of Hub Motor

ppl added oil and tested no load current. there was a point where adding more oil leaded to higher amps. that's where they stopped saying it was the optimal fill. not saying that more oil can/can't cool the motor better. and the limit is the height of the breather hole. if you fill the motor beyond...

### Re: Definitive Tests on the Heating and Cooling of Hub Motor

No one ever said 100mL was optimal. Its just what people were comfortable using (not sure why). It somehow morphed into gospel. FWIW, I was using 600mL running up Pikes. This is half the total capacity of my 9c motor. The more you use, the more risk of leakage out the axle (per my empirical data).

I don't think you understand. The oil is between the copper wire and the wire insulation (next to the wire strands). Cable tying isn't going to do squat.

### Re: Definitive Tests on the Heating and Cooling of Hub Motor

Yes, this is common sense if you have had the motor open while upgrading things (wire size, etc...). A skim coat if high temp silicone sealant has worked well for me on the bearings. Same for the hub covers. Believe it or not, the oil can/will still weep between the phase wire, and the phase wire co...

### Re: Definitive Tests on the Heating and Cooling of Hub Motor

Yes, you are right. You CANT compare it to air cooling, since oil cooling works so much better. If you are getting an oil "patch" in your garage, you obviously need to improve the system, not abandon the concept. If we didn't improve the technology on things, we'd still be using sharp sticks to hunt.
