Meanwell question......

When I run 2 meanwells in series......
Sometimes one will not volt up.....
So I unplug - wait - plug back in...... and
It’s good.

Is there a startup technique I need to do while
these are in series?

Re: What is the "Light Weight" go to "Hobby" Lithium packs

Am curious for these types of packs -- how well are they maintaining their balance when used this way? What is the estimated lifetime of these types of packs - same as modern 18650 cells? Nice seeing a reasonable option, thanks for sharing. After a couple of charge cycles..... the discharge Seems t...

Re: MultiStar 6S/5200 mAh on sale from US warehouse

Also to note: My 4s 10ah Multistars in a 24s configuration during BULK charge with my MeanWell Chargers........ All the cells come up very even..... to within 100th of a volt. I'm very happy of this...... my LiFePO4's never did this....... i'd have to watch them very closely for runaway cells.

Re: MultiStar 6S/5200 mAh on sale from US warehouse

I'm loving my Multistars 4s 10ah packs 6 in series 24s 100.8v max.... only charge to 4.1v per cell for 98.4v total. I'm using two MeanWells in series set to 97.2v for a cell level charge of 4.05v..... then I top it off with my BC168 through the jst connectors to 4.1v. I'm very impressed with them. M...

Re: Best donor frame to build an electric bike & getting sta

One must keep in mind that Rim Brakes are grabbing something that is turning slower than grabbing closer to the hub, which is turning much faster. You've got that backwards. The RPMs would obviously be the same, but the surface feet per minute is much higher at the rim. Just to add my 2¢ to the dis...

If you have a moment could you share the measured highest/lowest voltage that model outputs adjusted maximum? Specs show 27-54VDC so if it reaches 54.6V it could be useful solution for 48V pack charging?

Mine went to 59v

I just cranked it at 10:40PM 11/02/17

Re: Mean-Wells

I got my second MeanWell in! Bulk charge my full series pack..... much better than bulk charging half the pack in series twice, or paralleling the tore down pack! 5amps at 97.2V (4.05 per cell) brings that 10ah 100.8v pack up QUICK! love it! I should have done meanwells years ago. Although I did pur...

Re: Best donor frame to build an electric bike & getting sta

I was thinking more about the pressure per square inch the pads apply. Each type of brake has its pros and cons. It just isn't the simple slam dunk your previous post suggests. It is more of a "horses for courses" and personal preference issue. Both can work very well for an e-bike. It just depends...

Re: What is the "Light Weight" go to "Hobby" Lithium packs

Mine are 4s 16ah and I love them. Ever thought about trying them on your lawnmower Tommy L? I moved from Canada to Florida, USA. I dissembled the Lawn Tractor and saved all but the chassis. I purchased the 10ah 4s packs for size and being able to add another 10a...

Re: Best donor frame to build an electric bike & getting sta

Properly designed brakes to the job very well. That would include a properly engineered Drum Brake. Some appearance of better performance of rear Disc brakes with calipers maybe because of design and weight of a vehicle. You may also be fooled into it being better because of a newer model cars propo...

Cool Read! For the average person ...... a prebuilt might be the way to go...... I've been doing this for 8 years and love it! Mean-Wells

I just got into Mean-Wells..... Questions: 1. Does the amount of current drop off as your battery reaches the set voltage on the Mean-Well? 2. if a pack has 24S multi-stars 100.8v @4.2v per cell........ what is the 80 or 90% SOC voltage for this 24s Pack. 3. I just installed a BBDS02 for my wife wit...

Re: What is the "Light Weight" go to "Hobby" Lithium packs

Took the new 24s MultiStar 10ah pack out for a test ride and just got back! I dumped 3600 Watts or 3.6KW into my 9C2810 DD Hub motor. It just loves it when I do that! ha! I started out at 98V. The CA Reports 92.1v min and 35Amp Max. So the cells hit 3.83333volts on a Hard Acceleration. And quickly r...

Bulk charged to 4.0-4.05v (ish) then topped them off with my BC168 which charges through the JST connectors. Nice to watch them charge and absorb e...

The MULTISTARS arrived today! 4S 10ah x 6 units. I can run 24S. My rear wheel is 2810 (10 turn) so I've been a High Voltage guy since the beginning. My Methods 9C DD 2810 and my Methods 7225C mini controller have been awesome. If you've never done High Voltage, you don't know what you are missing! V...
