Re: What I wish I understood before buying my hubmotor

Don't buy a faster wind than your desired top speed or torque suffers terribly! I own two 1500w hubmotors and the 6t climbs off-road hills even at 48v that my 4t hubmotor cannot even at 72 volts and my controller overheats! My top speed with both motors is not that different at about 35 amps and 72...

Re: DB25 solderless, how glue?

i'd be inclined to use hot glue, with a heat gun or low-temperature oven to help it 'pot' well and seep in to all the gaps. That relies on the plastics being less sensitive to heat than the hot glue, but gives great results if they do.

Re: Aquiring proper 250W stickers

easiest way is to simply get some from a custom sticker printing business - thats where I got mine from. managed to fit about 30 '200w' stickers on a single bumper sticker. used some myself, sold a few, would happily send you the remaining if I had a clue where they were :P getting your own though i...

link? ive never seen qs offer the motor on its own - always as part of a package with their rear swingarm.
from memory- the motor is quite wide (too wide for practical use on a bike) but that price seems very good... too good? :P

Re: LMX P2 : Freeride trials motorcycle frame development

how do you cool these motors with liquid? hard job? All it takes is time, tools, and money... We did it back in 2016, on the 50mm motors, but we found out the weight and complexity was not worth the improved/constant cooling rate. It sure did a big difference, but was turning our cheap motors into ...

Re: '92 Ford Escort LX, no batts $250

But, if you insist on a figure, then your 7 kWh pack would roughly give you 20 mi of range in this vehicle. Your chargers would take about 15 h to recharge, so basically you could go 20 mi every 16 h or 900 mi every 30 days. Not what I would consider a good use of time. That sounds like the attitud...

Re: higher or lower kv

How many of you say this by observation or experience rather than theory or pure logic? People who have build over 50 ebike with similar specs say that lover kv (rmp/v) hub is better from a standstill and better up to certain speed (~30km/h, ~40km/h). I say it from both. But the theory is more than...

just make sure its rated for higher temperatures - super glue can start to break down at ~80C - your wires may get much hotter than that.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike from China

Trail riding and single track would work great with this bike. I would watch it on the long steep climbs as it would overheat. It's happened to me twice where something cuts the power in half suddenly. It's either the battery, BMS or the controller. The motor is always barely warm when the power cu...

Re: Mystery Mid-Drive Motor Kit from Amazon any good?

for the price, i'd pay $50 odd extra and get a brushless system (hub motor) or about 100 extra for a BL middrive. That particular kit is using a brushed motor/controller, so efficiency wont be as good, and a geared reduction, so its potentially noisy. Its also not that cheap for what you get - ive s...

Well I broke down and bought the Amazon one. It arrives Friday. If the Banggood one shows up I may have the chance to try parallel boosters, but I really don't see the need. If your fan never goes on in Phoenix, then I don't see the need to parallel. My battery is only 10s5p. In fact I may leiminat...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike from China

So as the swing arm compresses the linkage works the rocker arm. The rocker arm compresses the shock while also working the opposite side of rocker arm to move the "wishbone". The "wishbone" got a pivot point on the frame too. So here is where the linkage outsmarted me. What is the job of the wishb...

i'll throw my 2c worth of support behind the ts100. heats up so quick I turn it off more regularly than i would a normal iron - and has an auto off if it doesn't sense it being used for an extended period which is great if you forget it from time to time, works on anything 12v to (i think) 32v, full...
