Re: Cycle Analyst ebrake/PAS issue

The ebrake glyph responds with the brake lever i.e. it's only displayed when the lever is activated. It's not on view when the motor power is still off several seconds after the lever has been released. So from this we know the ebrake signal is good up to the CA and the CA is interpreting it correc...

Re: Cycle Analyst ebrake/PAS issue

Motor doesn't power up after PAS gear shifts when using gear sensor or tapping ebrake lever. When I hit the brakes, motor power is switched off but doesn't reappear for approx 10-20 seconds after releasing the brake. But it can be an intermittent problem... If I shift gear by back-pedaling to cut t...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Good news on the halls! If you have the skills, you might test diode D2 and either replace it or just jumper it with a solder blob without trying to remove it. If you don't have the skills, this isn't a good place to learn since a foul up may take options with Grin off the table - an email to them w...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

I put my multimeter on my hall wires – G - 0.06 to 2.5v + depending on wheel movement Y - 5v to 2.5v - depending on wheel movement B - 0-0.08v The numbers I provided were actually a result of the probing method. I spun the wheel and jumped the yellow to black and observed no change in the arrow. Th...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Thanks for the kind words - glad you find the posts helpful :D The values you report for the halls suggest all three are toast. But - this may instead be a matter of test technique. If you search ES or go to the ebikes.ca site under 'Learn'/'Troubleshooting' you will find some help on proper procedu...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

... the speed sensor stopped working.... Any updates? I you have a viable alternating hi/lo signal on the Speed input and are getting no speed reading, I afraid you may have shot phase voltage into the CA and smoked something. There's only a diode (D2) between the SPD input and the processor. The d...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Okay - I think you need to read the Grin CA web page and the installed documentation (where you installed the Setup Utility) to get this basic stuff squared away. If it's not clear, Grin Tech Support can help. I think we've moved from solving some special issues with undocumented resolutions to more...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Start the download in the Setup Utility - THEN power up the CA - the download will begin before the CA enters the main application. Do you mean..... I believe what has happened is that either (1) you flashed the wrong FW file that only loads the app and not does not initialize the EEPROM or (2) hav...

Sounds like you used the NoEeprom version which is incorrect for a 3.0x upgrade as described in the included documentation files.

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

No. PassThru mode is the simple default throttle mode you need to use to do the setup in the Guide. The other throttle modes cannot be used to tune the throttle settings since they're fly by wire instead of directly tracking the operator throttle rotation.

Re: Electric Cargo-bike POWER system for steep terrain?

Ignoring the nonsense about one motor which has nothing to do with the intent of the law, this law isn't too bad since it does not rely on rated motor power (normally the most inarguable constraint), clearly specifies power far in excess of that required to achieve 20mph, and additionally indicates ...

Re: 96VDC -> 12VDC buck converter

There's mention of a specific Toshiba ADP-60RH laptop supply in "How To Wire a 12V Brake Light and Turn Signals". Works nice.

At your high voltage, almost any one should work - the problem is usually getting them to start at low voltages (~45V) when they were designed for 110V.

I ordered a Phase Runner and CA3... ... The CA3 lets you adjust how quickly the power comes on...super sweet. I would suggest flashing the latest 3.1b16 / 3.1b20 beta firmware (these are the same firmware - just different Setup Utilities). There's a bunch of neat new stuff in this beta release but ...
