Actually, I have not yet gotten around to mounting it on a bike yet. I should do that soon, though.

Anyone know where to get torque arms for this motor? And at a reasonable price?
Post a picture of your bike's drop-out, and maybe we can make some recommendations.

Re: MXUS 3K Turbo (V3) 45mm Direct Drive Hub Motor

Thx for the info..but id like to get a freewheel with notches so that i can use a removal tool to get them off easily. I seen that its a headache to get those freewheels that have those 2 dimples because you gotta baskcally destroy it, using a punch then removing the guts. The ACS freewheels have 4...

I managed to overheat/stall my 48V-15A motor. It took a 20% steep logging road to do it, though.

So far, I can't say I have any complaints.

Re: "Edge" DD hubmotor, 1500W, 35mm, Al core

I've been pairing the 4T and 6T windings of these motors with my 6FET irfb3077 controllers that put out about 30A. Running them on a 48V-15AH Hailing XL pack of 13S5P Samsung 30Q cells. This combination is rock solid, and a whole lotta fun. I run the 4T (11Kv) on a 26" tire and the 6T (~8.5Kv) on a ...

Nope. 1604 is the month & year. April 2016.
The winding is not indicated in the serial number, but it should be hand written on the stator. Have to pull a cover off to see it.

Installation on my Kona Leroi went pretty well.
It's a fun ride, and light. Pulled 16.6A out of my 15A rated motor. 800W peak seems adequate for where I will be riding this.

Re: What is your favorite 500W-3000W Direct Drive Hub Motor?

You don't need as much power as you think you do, unless you want to have senseless "fun". If cost is negligible, and bike handling/performance is not otherwise hindered by additional power, I say why the hell not. You don't have to use the power. - But you've got it if you want it. I can think of ...

Definitely not both, and I'm not sure about even just the battery. The 13" may be a wee bit too small. Would a 26" tire size and a 15" frame work for you?

Custom Motobecane Ebikes with Premium components

Custom Motobecane.jpg I've built a lot of ebikes the last few years, and tried many different vendors & parts suppliers. There have been lots of stinkers, and a few gems I've uncovered in my quest for the "PERFECT" ebike. Well, at least PERFECT for me. I know everyone has their own ideas about this...

Re: How can we make custom tuned ES edition motors a reality

Samd, Andy Braidford and I have a great DD hub motor design. It's the perfect combination of light weight, power handling & heat shedding, and efficiency. The road block is that the initial batch would require a minimum order of 1000 motors to cover the cost of all the new parts development. Group s...

Re: Why are more of you DIYers not in the e-bike business?

I do the Ebike hustle, much like Henry. All out of my own garage. Mostly Kits and Custom conversions. I do best when the customer buys all the parts (From me or elsewhere), and I charge a decent price for my labor to build the bike. That labor fee usually ranges from $300 for really simple installs ...
