Re: Idiots guide to water cooled mid motor making

well there is rust corrosion and then there is galvanic corrosion, for the latter the only way to solve is to do like on boat, sacrifice some metal/anode, boats uses sink i think. for rust anti-corrosion goes a long way, and if water/glycol fills the cavity it replaces vast part of oxygen, oxygen is...

glycol like we use in ice engines have additives for anti-corrosion. should not be an issue.

may i suggest real domino throttle? like for trail riding? great feel. and searcg forum to see how to make box thst convert wire action into 5v potentio style. gwhy used to make em, look at samd website for the controller 72200 that has similar setup. domino moto throttle <30$ electronic less <20$ a...

Re: Idiots guide to water cooled mid motor making

Well a 2 stroke will get much of it cooling from the gasoline itself actually. Thats why a laen running engine might run into problems with oversized cylinder etc so to avoid they always jet up the carburators.

How are the cells oriented on Tesla battery pack? Tesla probably got the most miles on 18650's so far.

Re: Idiots guide to water cooled mid motor making

As for the ASI 8 kw, from what I've hear those 8 kw controllers will be ready to release in end of january - early february. If you would like to have a firm date, just email them. They do respond. For the water cooling, if you are avoiding fans, you could increase the amount of coolant. You should ...

Personally I would find another source then. Especially because you already stated you will be giving your ride a good bashing. I know that QS motor will lace to you need. If you got special hub in mind for front wheel that might add extra time but they will meet your needs. As you are located in Be...

yes I did order sunron bike. we tested it in china, then we asked manufacturer to change some components we didnt like, now we are waiting undated version in 20-30 days in Ukraine to test it or change it by ourself if needed. also we are looking forward for certification for streets, as for offroad...

Re: Dave's 80:1 RC mid drive kit build log

But I think it's a pretty cool motor. I agree; but starting out with a 3.6kg solid billet of Al to form what is essentially a 400gm tube, rather than starting with (say) a ~1kg piece of tube , just seems wasteful. I can't see any good engineering reason for it. As for wasteful, the savings are stil...

Oh if you are up for the big amp controllers and can do a light spending the new ASI 8kw controller might be right up your alley. That is 8 kw continuous. Ready to ship within a few weeks or so. http://accelerated-systems.com/products/escooters-emotorcycles/ Two of those peaking @600 A each should r...

Re: 19" Motorcycle Wheels vs 26" Bicycle Wheels (rim and tires)

I am looking for something that can take some beating offroad and fits the Enduro Ebike frame. The 17" looks nice and probably is a good choice on the road, but a cast wheel is not what I am after for this bike. Thank you for your input I am more positive to try the radially laced option now . If y...

Re: Idiots guide to water cooled mid motor making

Well I wasen't thinking a direct comparison. More that if a 6 phase dd hub was compared to sort of similar 3 phase dd hub from the motor spreadsheet there could maybe come a conclusion? Like many dd hubs have efficiencies around high 80's, while the hubmonster had 94 % efficiency. AFAIK there ain't ...

Re: Dave's 80:1 RC mid drive kit build log

I don't know much about the other mid drive, but what I've seen here must radical support and ludicrous improvement and attention to details. From what I've read about daves drives they are both about the highest torque to the ground drive around, uses high quality Astro motor and are now available ...

Re: Idiots guide to water cooled mid motor making

In my case it's best improvement seems to be the possibility to use two controllers and double the available controller power. My understanding is this is only practical advantage. AFAIK there is no real inherent efficiency or performance benefit, maybe slightly reduced torque ripple. "John in CR" ...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike from China

Belt wear would likely be a non-issue. As long as Sur Ron used a quality vendor those belts will outlast chain and sprocket by a huge margin. Think of it, timing belts are used on our cars and easily last 200 000 km.

Re: Sur-ron Adaptto

Such triple astro drive would surely be awesome, but to be honest i think it is not ideal. I would use one single motor, a 10/20kW FOC controller (ASI, emDrive) with torque control, and the most important thing: turn on regen braking. 30kW, biclycle braking system and no regen = no go. How much wou...

Re: KTM Freeride e-xc battery voltage?

Btw regarding safety of working with higher voltage, 2-300 voltage is not high voltage in the sense that it will kill us. Voltage is still low enough so the the amp is what will hurt us. When you grow up with 240 v outlet in your wall you are bound to encounter 240v running thru your body one time o...

Depending on motor design what about eddy current, up the voltage up the RPM then rise in eddy current will follow?

Yes sir, I like you way of thinking. 3 x Astro sounds like mad fun. Should put you in the 30 kw + peak power. And for such a light bike you will be flying.

Re: KTM Freeride e-xc battery voltage?

I get that wh will give you the range. If you could choose to run 10s20p or 20s10p, the number of cells are the same, so is wh. But you can draw more amp from the 10s battery for longer. And because of that battery should last longer as 10s20p. Does this makes sense?

Or will the math always rule?

Re: KTM Freeride e-xc battery voltage?

What am I missing here? I can't see any reason to choose 300v over 96v? I mean available real estate would dictate 48v or 96v. Then adding rest of cells as parallell? Any cells added to series (above a bare minimum) will take away useful c rate and ultimate also range as high c load will strain more...

Re: KTM Freeride e-xc battery voltage?

Don't really know those flux motors, but as with bldc motors surely those flux ones can run various voltage? And if you think of it, 18 kw peak is not really high. If they run 3/4 lower voltage they could use the same number of cells for larger Ah and more range?
