Re: R Martin Moped build

If John makes a comment like that it might just be a hubmonster 6-phase motor?

https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewt ... 31&t=46898

If so, no need to change the motor. Just get two large controllers and some serious battery

Why the chain tensioner when you can just slide the rear axle further back?

Re: Carbon Frame and BBSHD

Be careful as some carbon frames have a bottom bracket that is too thick in material for the BBSHD to fit. See this thread:
https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewt ... &p=1127215

And the clearance of the BBSHD:

If you want to use a mega heavy 273 hub motor why not just get the cast 17" wheel?:

Re: Hub Motor cooling solution - HUBSINK OFFICIAL THREAD

Which hubmotor motor is lightest that can handle 3kw cont and 8kw peaks with hubsinks and ferro? Anything less weighting than Mxus 3000w V3? I think you can get away with the Leaf or Edge 1500W 35mm stator motors if you're using Ferrofluid and Hubsinks. Ask the guys who use them here: https://endle...

Re: Go Kart Motor to compete against DD2 Petrol Motor

I wrote that because my link starts at page 4. My mistake that I didn't put in the link starting from the first page. If you did read that page you can see that it is indeed a Golden Motor. And if you read further you'll see that he finally uses a Zero motor to keep up with the fast two strokes. As ...

Read this thread for inspiration and data:

His latest set up is with a Zero (e-motorcycle) motor and forced air cooling. It will be difficult to get enough range (battery) for the longer races.

Re: Mid drive vs Hub Motor for 10000 watt project

I would go with field weakening. Then you don't need to have your motor rewind and can keep the current controller as spare/back up. As the efficiency will go down the temperature of the hub motor will rise at top speed. So it is best to read up on cooling and statorade/ferrofluid: https://endless-s...

Re: Mid drive vs Hub Motor for 10000 watt project

On their website Emmo describes the hub motor as a "GTS Super Torque Motor" so it will probably be a very low kV winding. You'll need more Volts or a controller with field weakening to increase the speed.

why pay more than 3 euro.... :D
Well your own asking price is €3,20 per cell and only from 201 cells or more your asking price is €3,00. At that amount of cells the Panasonic cell I linked to is only €2,60 and the Samsung cell €2,55...

Re: Which Controller (edit: hub motor) for my daughter's wheelchair?

I think you are wrong. Heat is a product of amps. Amps is a product of load and throttle position. With 4 motors, the load/motor is 1/4, therefore the amps required per motor, even if not running at peak efficiency, is much less. You also seem to think that the motor will run at a steady state from...

Re: Which Controller for my daughter's wheelchair?

buk___ why are you calculating with 16" wheel size and at 5km/h? Glyn has 20" rims with 2.25" tires. Most likely the diameter is >21" so the circumference will be around 21 x 25,4 = 534mm = 0.534m x 3.14(pi)= 1,67m. Although 5km/h is walking speed on a level terrain the actual average speed looking ...

Re: Which Controller for my daughter's wheelchair?

Based upon my 'vast experience' :) of 3 rides totalling 31k, on my new Q128H, I recon that if you fitted your daughter's chair with 4 of them -- high torque, 800w geared hub motors -- she could probably climb the North face of the Eiger. I just checked and they still have them on 19% discount, mean...

Re: Which Controller for my daughter's wheelchair?

I'm not an expert but I know that climbing a hill is all about gearing. If you ride up a hill on a normal MTB you will go down in gearing to be able to keep pedaling. The steeper the incline the lower you have to be in the gearing range to keep moving. A gearless hub motor in a 20" rim will be the s...

Re: Which Controller for my daughter's wheelchair?

Too bad you didn't listen to the advise you were given in your first thread. Because these DD motors in a 20" bicycle rim are about the worst choice you could have made for this application. At the speeds (<2mph?) your daughter will be climbing that path for hours on end those DD won't take more tha...
