Re: KT-LCD3 Button Question/Help

Several things I recall reading about the KT-controller interface to the LCD. 1) You can run without the display if you connect the TXD and RXD leads together and connect the Batt voltage to the start wire. The controller defaults to some slower speed. 2) Someone posted that if you plug the LCD back...

Re: Would you charge a 4s LiFePo with a "15V" wall wart (intended for charging a 12V SLA)?

I recently soldered up a 3s-3P battery (4.2V cells) and bought a 3S charger on ebay for $11 shipped. For that kind of money, I didn't have to worry about whether which one of the many wall warts I have in a box might have worked. On the other hand, I still charge this battery outside, so I could hav...

Re: Front hub direct drive suitable for fatbikes?

Sure, a 135mm rear motor w/o freewheel can be centered in a 4" rim. That was my first spoking project and it came out OK. I did a 500W geared motor, and the whole combo, tire/rim/motor, was 16.0 pounds. Your DD motor might weigh 20 pounds. That's heavy. 2WD did work nice in snow, but riding in snow ...

Markell, sounds like you don't know much about batteries. Lipos are big fire hazards if you don't know anything about them.

Re: Will this BMS and Charger pair nicely for a 13s3p pack?

For the BMS you chose, I don't see any mention about a balance function in the specifications. Sometimes they will call it a balance BMS, but you want to see the balance current listed in the specs. I bought this one last year. Haven't used it yet. I think it took weeks to arrive. https://www.ebay.c...

I believe it. My caller ID said they called on Saturday. Left a voicemail in chinese. Figured it was a scam like the IRS has an arrest warrant for me, or my PC been sending error messages to microsoft. Deleted it. Hope it wasn't an invite to a Chinese New Years Party with the NOPI gals.

Re: i can fit 6 more cells, why shouldn't I?

10S-5P vs 12S-4P? You have enough cells for a 13S-4P, I like that better if this is for an ebike. More S means faster motor speed, but it depends on your riding style. Sometimes slower is better. I think range is about the same though. Having run both 10S and 13S on the same ebikes, I think the resp...

Re: kt-lcd3 wrong setting

You changed the throttle, and now it's slower? Doesn't sound like an LCD-3 setting problem, unless you went in there and changed something.

You might want to describe your 20" fatbike, like who made it, and other details.

Re: i can fit 6 more cells, why shouldn't I?

You shouldn't. I believe a 13S-4P will have more useable watt-hours (WH+. Think of this as a 6S-4P and a 6S-5P, two batteries in series. The 4P battery will run down faster and hit LVC sooner. A rough estimate says it will last a little longer than two 6S-4P's, but you're not using the extra 20% WH ...

Why doesn't the video show how it folds.? It doesn't fold. The poor guy pulls the front fork off, and then he carries the thing like a 40 pound fish.

I thought the battery is cool, although with a 36V 4AH, you might want to carry a spare.

Re: P settings for banggood lcd?

I initially bought the B version, which does not have pedal assist. Instead, the controller spins the motor to some speed. Sounds like PAS, but wasn't. No control. I didn't return it. My fault, but I asked about the A version, and it was only $23 shipped, so I ordered it. I bought the 48V model and ...

You might make sure you have the P1 setting optimized. It's set for gear ratio and magnets, and may affect top speed when you get that fast.

Re: Wheelies

Seems to me wheelies -- controlled wheelies -- have almost nothing to do with power. There are two kids -- 10 or 12 -- live just along the road from me that spend hours riding back and fourth 50 or 60 meters at a time with the front wheels of their 24" mtbs at head height. I agree. It's rider skill...

Thanks. Amberwolf. I thought it could be old news, but I've never seen any posts on the topic. Seems like most people had throttle faults and assumed the Hall device failed with the output high.

Re: P settings for banggood lcd?

I bought that combo a year ago because it was cheap, under $50 shipped, I think. It comes set for a specific voltage. The 36V version will not power up on 48V, but you can solder a jumper on the circuit board if you want dual voltage, using the appropriate LVC setting. It has a learning mode that wo...

Throttle Fault - old news?

Here's a throttle fault I was not aware of. This happened when I had a new motor on a test stand, hooking up a throttle with jumper wires, so no harm done. Just a nice serendipity learning experience. If the ground wire on a Hall effect throttle comes off, the motor takes off. Re-attaching ground sh...

Re: Faulty BMS on my 1000W ebike?... with pics!

I don't think my KT controllers draw anything when powered off, but I don't leave batteries without on/off switches connected when not riding. I store the batteries in a fire-safe box. See what your multimeter tells you on dark current. 1-3 ma would seem safe to me, but 10 ma is 1.68 AH in a week (1...

It sounds like a flaky battery connector in your cradle, or maybe the +/- battery connector to the controller.

Re: BMSbattery S06S wiring help and S-LCD5 setup

Looking at your photo, you have the red wire in the center of the connector from the PAS. If that is 5 volts, I think it ought to be going to the brown wire on the connector from the controller.
