Re: hand throttle instead of pedal assist

40nm/volt --> 1.2V for 120 nm on high sensitivity 100nm/volt -> 1.2V for 120 nm on medium sensitivty range While it's novel idea to turn that torque sensor output into a throttle input, isn't 120nm at the sprocket what a mid drive motor will output. With foot power, he'll need to amplify the signal ...

Re: Wuxi, city in southern Jiangsu province, China

For those interested, Wuxi has the literal meaning of "No Tin" in chinese. Centuries ago, tin was mined nearby and when the mines were depleted, the region got its name. I found it a pleasant place to visit, and our guide called one of the smaller cities in the region, only several million people. O...

Do you know of any (UK) BS that sells an 11-28T screw-on freewheel?

If so, link name/address please.

Re: $600 mixed ebike kit from China 350w MXUS wheel

I don't have a KT controller, but all the discs are just magnets in a wheel, right? It should work. Its a wheel of magnets that passes by a hall sensor. So I can imagine that the particular hall sensor could matter and the number of magnets could matter. I don't know though. Which is why I'm asking...

Re: Which spoke length calculator?

Yes. I just did this for my Q128H using Grin and Sapim. ERD of 522mm. Sapim's online calculator said 202 and 203 mm Grin was 199 and 200mm. In the past, when I used the Grin calculator, spokes were always too long and I needed to stack washers under the nipples or re-order. So I ordered 198 and 199 ...

Re: hand throttle instead of pedal assist

Fechter has you covered. Follow his guidelines. I just want to add my comment to your "What is this sensor?" question. Does your rear derailleur mounting plate resemble this one? That's from a design where they incorporated the PAS sensor into the derailleur mount. They can also put a torque sensor ...

Re: No response with new MXUS

1) Is the MXUS a sensor motor? What you marked as a PAS connector sure looks like a Hall sensor connector. Does it go to the motor or to a PAS sensor? 2) What you marked as Display looks like a three wire PAS or Throttle input to me, but you say that a display is connected there and works properly? ...

Re: High-speed, long-distance (heavy "30^3") Q128 commuter build

Ok. I see it now. I thought I was looking at a front wheel. My Q100's spin a lot more free than that, but I have a Q128H still unlaced, and I can barely turn the axle with my fingers. It should loosen up.

The LCD3's five wires are red (battery power), blue (start), black (ground) plus two data wires TX/RX (yellow/green). When you turn on the LCD3, it takes the blue wire from 0 volts to battery power which starts the controller. It does need the two data wires to read the controller data and to set pr...

Re: what are the best sites/builders for batteries?

I was looking at the UPP website. Appears to be free shipping, which I like, but now it seems too good of a deal. Was it properly marked as a lithium battery when it arrived. I only want to support vendors who are good citizens and ship lithium batteries per international rules.

Re: 36 Volt 350 watt controller how to connect?

According to the ebay description, it's a self learning controller. The double white wire plug is for self-learning. What is Hall sensor input for a motor with nothing connected? Me, I would expect it to go to a 5 volt pull up resistor, but 14V is possible. If you're getting 5 volts on the throttle ...

Re: Low volts on one block of parallel cells. BMS or cell(s)?

Are you using a charger designed for lithium 18650? A 10S battery will have a full charge of 42V, and each of your 5P groups will be at 4.20 volts. The charger's LED should still be showing "charge mode" if you measured 40.2 volts. The group that was at 3.40 volts was only 20-30% charged. DId you al...

The 11th balance wire is either the negative end or the positive end of the battery. It''s easy to figure out the wire sequen...

Re: Recommend me an ebike kit under 800? (or 1000)

His post history has him just south of the US-Mexico border. For economy/range, I think a 500watt geared motor goes a long way on a battery at 14 mph, but they're hard to get in the USA on a budget. My budget anyway. I think these kits should be under $200. For speed, a 1000+ Watt DD kits goes reall...

If the LCD1 is the same as the s-LCD5 and s-LCD3, then you change the low cut0ff value with a "C" setting. A lot different. No voltage or watt readout. No LVC adjust. It only has five P settings, and P5 can only be entered as an integer. I dunno how one would enter 1.5. The intent for it is to have...

They install the ones they like. Congrats. You are now a e-bike builder and will be learning ho...

Re: BMSBattery Charger Not Charging / Arcing to Metal Table

If the specifications are honest, yes, a 4A rated charger could charge a battery 2X faster than a 2A rated charger. There is some point where an overly fast charge rate can damage the cells. I believe it's 1/2 the max discharge rate of the cells. Your BMS bottle battery is certain capable of more th...

Re: KT-LCD1 vs KT-LCD3

I have LCD1 (I think) on one one bike and LCD3 on the others. First one doesn't show watts. Second one shows watts, but it bounces around if you're looking for max. Average watts are easier to assess. So I would think you're reading around 400W on acceleration and you feel that it's slower than with...
