Re: Recommendation for vertical bike hooks?

Thanks for the recommendations! It looks like the single hooks are the best option

Recommendation for vertical bike hooks?

I am looking to hang 2-3 bikes vertically on a section of wall about 40" wide. There are some products and reviews out there, but they don't give much guidance as to whether they would support the weight of an Ebike. Has anyone had luck with certain products? My current bike weighs about 60 lbs.

Re: Bamboo / BBS02 / Nexus IGH

I am very interested in the bamboo frame concept, as I have an idea for a bike that does not currently exist and I would not want to have to learn to weld and buy a bunch of metalworking equipment plus rent the space. How did you account for the diameter shrink of the tubes? Wouldn't that cause them...

Re: Reconnecting some wires, a beginner's journey

Sorry I should have been more precise. I meant that it doesn’t have a CA plug. Good to know that I could still hack it together though!

Re: Reconnecting some wires, a beginner's journey

After a very helpful e-mail exchange with Lyen, I got the motor working again by twisting the ignition wires together! I guess the only thing the ignition key did was complete a circuit, so now I can take my time watching tutorials and still have E-power in the mean time. The power in this thing rea...

Re: Calling all Bay Area ebike riders

I am in the Mission in SF and would be game for a ride or event, although I might not be able to keep up with my puny 700W front hub :)

Re: Reconnecting some wires, a beginner's journey

Turns out the wires in the second pic are just to the ignition key, not connecting the battery and controller like I thought. Received my 60W soldering iron and 60/40 core today so I'll make the attempt soon. I can't see any way to route the wires properly through the bottom of the frame without cut...

Re: Reconnecting some wires, a beginner's journey

I received a couple hundred bucks earlier than expected, so I'm thinking that I'll go ahead and order a Cycle Analyst v3 if I'm going to be messing with the wiring anyways. Will the c2013 eZee controller have a plug for it or will I need to do the shunt mod? I also have my eye on the TDCM torque sen...

Re: Reconnecting some wires, a beginner's journey

I bought it from a crazy guy who lives on a boat. I figured the price was right and it would be a good project to learn to work on Ebikes, but now I know that I bit off more than I could chew and I should have spent the extra money on one that actually worked and acquired the mechanical skills more ...

Re: Re-soldering some wires, a beginner's journey

Thanks for the advice! Now I am trying to decide whether to proceed by ordering soldering or crimping gear. Here is a pic of the disconnected wire from the battery to the controller. Is this the sort of thing that can be crimped? It looks like it would be hard to solder since it's attached to the bi...

Reconnecting some wires, a beginner's journey

Hi all, I finally got the project bike that I posted about a few months ago into rideable shape. It rides like a dream, I love the gear hub, and the hydraulic disc brakes I installed the front allow braking distances that could probably beat most cars. However, all the part swapping and jostling has...

Re: What will it take to make ebikes, More mainstream ?

You have to also account for how many vehicles are on the roads and how many cyclists on riding. Another way of doing it is, for the total distance of ALL users in one year, much harder to find out. I agree with the sentiment, but total miles would be highly misleading in favor of making cars seem ...

Re: What will it take to make ebikes, More mainstream ?

To answer the question that Izits has been asking, which is why wouldn't people choose the option that results in the most comfort and convenience, there's a lot more to it than that. By framing the question that way, you're making a lot of assumptions without realizing it, and I believe that some o...

Re: What's the point of 1000+W ebikes ?

Tell ya what though, I have utter respect for the some of the Lycra guys, insane fitness levels and usually very good etiquette on cycle ways etc. some ebikers are disgrace in there awareness of signaling their intent or slowing down around intersections and slower riders. Seen a number of close ca...

Re: What's the point of 1000+W ebikes ?

So ? People are killed by cars everyday and they didn't restrict the power that they have. In New York, they have the ebike law, not because idiots were riding ebikes but because idiots did vote the law. Never let idiots rule your life, that could be making you one of them. Agreed that power should...

Re: What's the point of 1000+W ebikes ?

I've got some of the fastest ebikes on the forum, and they're perfectly legal here, so by Chalo's logic that's perfectly fine and fair. I use speed and acceleration to stay safer than anyone crazy enough to ride the streets at cyclist speeds. I make it a point to ride responsibly and courteously, s...

Re: What's the point of 1000+W ebikes ?

I've experienced the same issue, and once had a pickup truck pass me at double the speed limit in the oncoming traffic lane around a blind corner. It was not a lightly traveled road, so his chance of being killed in a head-on collision was about 1 in 4, and I was doing 10 over the vehicle speed lim...

Re: What's the point of 1000+W ebikes ?

I'm my casual observation, no speed is ever fast enough to prevent motorists becoming impatient and trying to pass unsafely, until you're going way too fast for your safety and that of others. I used to commute to work by way of a downhill that allowed me to reach 55mph on a pedal bike. It was a 35...

Re: eZee motor kit build

Even though it was more than I wanted to pay, after consideration I went ahead and ordered the eZee frame. I know nothing about EBike wiring and guides for noobs that go into a useful amount of detail don't seem to exist. With the eZee frame I can just move the existing professional wiring job and b...

This looks like a frame that might fit the bill. Rear suspension, a large triangle, and not too pricey!

Re: eZee motor kit build

Shipping is $400, so that idea is out. Are they trying to Air Mail it ? Presumably, he used a DHL quote. When I asked about cheaper options he said that he could knock off $50 or I could arrange my own shipping. Every welder I've contacted has refused to work with aluminum, so it's looking like the...

Does anyone have experience with the Vector light frame? That looks like a good FS frame for this build.

Turns out eZee will sell me a Sprint frame (identical to the Hebb) for $150 plus shipping, which is about what the welding job would have cost.

Re: What will it take to make ebikes, More mainstream ?

I suspect another big reason people are reluctant is that it's been so long since most adults have been on a bike that they're scared to fall off and look stupid. The average person might be more receptive to a trike with a large cargo basket and a powerful motor than any flavor of ebike. They'll o...
