Re: Buying forest land, implementing solar

I see, the area where I really wouldn't mind being has land going for $30,000. I guess that's my savings goal. If I wanted to be in a town with restrictions (City or suburb restrictions), one nice and another kind of poor, the price is $15,000. The restrictions are likely something like 1000-1800sqf...

Re: Buying forest land, implementing solar

It's hard to tell if my paranoia has been kicked up for no particularly good reason and the intruder was a figment of my imagination on a windy dark night where the dog was barking into my front yard just about 10 minutes earlier (He was tethered to the front of the RV, so he couldn't get onto the p...

Re: Buying Subdivision Land, implementing generator

Let's see.Another suburbanite who lives in a nice and peaceful white enclave with really no idea what it's like here. Sounds like you're looking in a mirror. I've been at my Mother's, my sister's, at other relatives when certain REAL countryside confrontations occur. They're not like those cheesy l...

Re: Buying forest land, implementing solar

So how would you rent out the old place? Has non of the above and has NO HOUSE to live in. Dan I thought about that, i'm pretty sure sewer/toilet would be a necessity to rent out, I'm sure it's written in law somewhere. And, I have no idea, lol. So maybe I'd just build out the structure and then "r...

Re: Buying forest land, implementing solar

How close are the houses in this neighborhood? Shooting guns in a residential neighborhood is a bad idea. Doesn't stop them! And they do it right behind my backyard. Personally, I'd shoot a few blanks to get a hold of the loading/ejection/fires procedures, and then I'd save target practice for the ...

Re: Buying forest land, implementing solar

Thinking about the new prospective location. Pertinent distances. Distance to walmart Distance to post office Distance to cost effective groceries Distance to cheaper hardware store distance to homedepot Distance to a dollar store HERE vs There. Walmart:13,17 post office:2.5,6 cost effective groceri...

Re: Buying forest land, implementing solar

Y'know, I wonder if my loud verbal provocations in spanish has been setting them off? I normally wouldn't think they couldn't hear it if they can't hear my generators, but then... I remembered... I'm not normally just saying it out loud, I'm yelling with angry enthusiasm. So they might actually be a...

Re: Buying forest land, implementing solar

Let's see.Another suburbanite who lives in a nice and peaceful white enclave with really no idea what it's like here. So, this guy, is constantly shooting his pistol behind my yard the day of the creepy suspected encounter. He's been setting off the dog for the last 3 days at exactly 10 p.m. in my b...

Re: Buying forest land, implementing solar

Bringing the generators closer to the entrance of the RV and the dog. Even though I don't really like it there with the fumes, it help ensure a safe perimeter around the generators with the dog close enough by. The way the assailant was able to hide was by being some distance from the dog yet close ...

Re: Buying forest land, implementing solar

Hmmmm... thinking about the relationship between sex and money. Steve's wife was "stealing" money from the joint account that he was depositing his wages into. I find it interesting that steve didn't notice this when it first started happening? Prostitutes want money for sex. And I felt somewhat obl...

Re: Buying forest land, implementing solar

Saw a video of some guy making his "sexual advances" on a girl in a characteristically aggressive way (It wasn't words or anything... just the way he acts, moving/leaning forward and acting aggressive) and that was exactly the way I acted with the HEB chick when that escalated FAST! So I see this is...

Re: Buying forest land, implementing solar

Yep, suspect I'm getting targeted for murder. Not much I can do about it other than staying cautious, arming myself and never let my guard down. Eventually I can move out of this illegales shithole. Don't know if the white car driving by was someone evaluating the scene now the back entrance has bee...

Re: Buying forest land, implementing solar

Who would be creeping around 10:00 - 10:20 every day? Maybe the dog misses the noise of the generator. If I were you and so scared, I would pack it up and run home to mom. Tied down due to business ops and the fact I have assets here. There's no "running back" option. Any "moving option" is going t...

Re: Buying forest land, implementing solar

That is my plan, as soon as I sell my house. Mom is in Florida, nice and warm, not like this cold winters in CHICAGO. Not moving because CHICAGO is the center of violence as you put it. Haven't seen Mom in 6 years and it's a hell of a lot cheaper to live there than here. Dan Yeah, it's mainly south...

Re: Buying forest land, implementing solar

Decided to keep the investment in this property down to a comfortable minimum. I'm willing to spend money on security because I can take that equipment/technology with me when I finally move (Fencing, security systems, etc.). And, today, I need to seal off the back entry. Suspect a creeper was sitti...

Re: Buying forest land, implementing solar

Filled it up, ran to the tire place, and he filled it up and replaced the tire in less than 7 minutes. He wanted 10, but I only had a 20, so I gave him 20. Re: Buying forest land, implementing solar

I'm learning german now, so I can talk about them without them understanding me. And german actually sounds kind of cool, I can add that angry hitler accent to good affect. My sentiment is getting a bit more militantly fascist with their persistent armed approaches. I'm just practicing now. Fick die...

Re: Buying forest land, implementing solar

Okay, think I'm starting off with a 2 story 12x16 with the portland cement. If I feel compelled to move, I can buy other property in the future and potentially rent this one out. And the RV park idea is on hold for now, no clear indication of financier support. Oh well, I can always start it some ti...

Re: Buying forest land, implementing solar

Dec 14th, 7/16 OSB at HD is at 11.95, a reduction from 12.25 a week ago, and 17.35 a month ago. Seems fiber cement is recommended for fire resistance, apparently rated for several hours. Mix of wood pulp and cement. 8x144 inch or 8 sq. ft. goes for 6.75 at HD right now. So, smart siding = $26/32 = $...

Re: Buying forest land, implementing solar

There's got to be a cheapish way to create a fireproof exterior. Is there some way I can just slap some clay on the building exterior? Got plenty of it, lol.

Re: Buying forest land, implementing solar

I figure there's a probably a good way to use a winch to remove the larger tree stumps. I'm trying to figure that out without using heavy machinery, because it's expensive to buy and expensive to rent. Either ties up too much capital or wastes too much money renting. Reselling after buying and using...

Re: Buying forest land, implementing solar

If the leak is in the sidewall you have to patch it from the inside. If in the tread you can normally plug it. Plug it and ride is the normal way so it can melt together. You could plug it at Walmart if you can find the leak in a position you reach. Good luck with the plug. Dan Yeah, it's in ...

Re: Buying forest land, implementing solar

JB weld did not hold on the tire, it broke off and the leak resume. Emptied the tire (This time removing the valve, much faster), applied some rubber cement and will try again tomorrow. I saw that the tire repair kits use rubber cement, so I'm hoping it'll work. You forgot the rubber plug. Dan You ...
