Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

The green is anodized. Green is the hardest color of all IMo. Too much and it quickly turns dark, so a lighter green such as this bike will be on the “thin” looking side of anodizing. It’s still a proper coat, mine hasn’t scratched at all.

Updates on my battery, and I find and fix a loose spoke.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

new to the forum, just got the light bee couple weeks ago and the weather has not been cooperative but took it out to day and noticed the limp mode ( no more than 25 mph in sport mode) when the state of charge is 40%. Does anyone have this issue. Mine did this once when I was riding in freezing wea...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Super moto wheels came in! Nipples are 4.6mm across the flats instead of 4mm like the stock ones. The stock wheels have about 1/3 of the nips rounded off from the factory, these look much better. Build quality is what we can expect from a Chinese wheel builder. Tension is ok, but varied. A few spoke...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

no more than "30mph on flat ground", no more than 3hp. I've been considering how to implement a mode of throttle that would limit speed near 30mph on flat, but still let it rev out on downhills and not bog down going uphills. What would you do about it being more than 3 horsepower? 6KW = 8.04 Horse...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I've been thinking of making a super short stoke pedal setup for the bike that is still ridiculous to pedal but are strong and meet the "it's got pedals" criteria. I fully agree. With the gearing between front and rear, there is plenty of leverage to be able to pedal it in honesty with shorter cran...

Sorry to hear that, Luke. I’ve had a long struggle with rib dislocations too. I understand having a “new” rib sensation being nice for a change

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Lightning does strike twice.... I like johnrobholmes have unpacked my new sur ron only to find my battery completely dead. No screen display on the pack and on a volt meter it read 2 volts. the breaker was off when first unpacked which leads me to believe the pack is somehow faulted. I was able to ...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Loving the bike. Good range testing today, over 30 miles goosing it on the street, still hitting 40mph and 20% left on the little soc screen. Luna has also gone beyond what is necessary for ensuring im satisfied. I have no qualms about my perchase and Luna will be getting more of my business in the ...

Re: 14kw continuous 94% efficient motor.......

Astro got bought out and it put a damper on this project. Best I understand, the new owners are rather unwilling to do "custom" work and also increased prices dramatically on Matt.

rides stable compared to a hub motor eh? :D

I pretty much had the same impression on the quality / price. A bit wow'd by the frame and rear suspension geometry quality.

Re: 2018 Torque Arm Tests, Splined Interface Design and Tabbed Washers

Justin already has designed a motor that is QR compatible, up to 20mm axles. It takes a larger bearing and different side covers to have room for it all. I had the pleasure of machining the axles for the prototype run, so I got quite familiar with the entire assembly. http://www.ebikes.ca/shop/elect...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Those look really nice!

Question for folks who have ridden both forks, is the RST noticeably flexier? Luna has offered to exchange my Fast Ace for the RST since it has the seal issue. I really like the feel of a solid fork though, and don't care about losing some bike weight.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Well, I picked up the super moto wheel kit from Luna today. Since I spend most of the time riding to and from work, this will make it a much better commuter bike. I'll probably keep the gearing low so it tops out at 35mph instead of 45mph. I could use the extra torque

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

That sounds fun! Mine only has a cutout on the rear brake, not front. I’ll have to try a hard launch now :)

All in all I’m certainly still loving my bike. It’s tough to put many miles on it between the weather and only living 2 miles from the shop, but I ride it to work every day possible.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I didn't crack the pack open to check the cells before starting the charge, as I didn't consider the pack would be so dead on a brand new bike. At first I figured it was something I was doing wrong and didn't have the instructions to clue me in until weeks after. Only then did I fully understand wha...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

The customer service issues really should be in the Vendor Relations Corner section of the forum and please follow the rules there. Any idea what was really the problem with the battery? Seems like there was a drain that took the cells below the LVC, which should never happen. Indicates a possible ...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

I'm pretty sure they will do me right if an issue comes of my battery. Re: 2018 Torque Arm Tests, Splined Interface Design and Tabbed Washers

It is my understanding that steel will always spring back as long as it is not pushed past the yield point. The splines should yield in the contact patches until enough contact area is made to distribute the force along multiple teeth, and from there on out it will always have the same contact area....

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Mine had 73% charge, it's down to 40 something now with quite a bit of use. This feedback from other buyers why my interactions seem sketchy. I receive a battery that is so dead that the SOC display won't turn on and Luna's response is that they are all shipped in a low SOC. So low that the BMS had...
