Oh, if reverse engineering were not just that cumbersome :-\
would really be nice to test this on a brake motor test station.

Re: Kawasaki KL 250 A build

Still worrying about battery temperature. Ordered power resistors in China for some package scale tests, but looks like they got stuck in Christmas parcel flood  So I built a small test pack (4S1P) that fits my discharger at hand and pack it into some insulation to get a rough idea. I think th...

here is how 2-step reduction is made: reduction.jpg Tried large rear sprocket Thanks for the image :) Looks like an elegant, lightweight solution. ....well, yes, and a lot less material to buy in the beginning. But also a lot less money to make for the manufacturers and dealers, of course. May that be the reason why their prototypes still stick to the dino paradigm? Another motivation is that I like the way of living as a free fa...

Re: Ideas for EV farm machinery

When robo lawn mowers and robo vacuum cleaner entered the market, I kept laughing for quite some time.
But in the mean, they are an established concept.
Isn't this right the same idea of downsizing, combined with autonomous operation?

Re: Ideas for EV farm machinery

Even with a single plough your 20kW device will need 10,000Nm for a similar ground speed on a similar wheel size. Yes, that's the reason why I'd slow down for additional energy efficiency. I'm not sure where the optimum is, but I remember that somewhere above 4 km/h, power requirement increases at ...

Re: SilentEnduro conversions

:bigthumb: In the Votol-Thread, you mention a 2-stage transmission. How did you make that? Do you think that this high ratio is required? obviously, if you even want to use a larger rear sprocket? I'm going to convert an old KL 250, using a QS 138 with Votol 150, and I'd like to try it single stage.

regarding the question of till vs no till: That's not the point for me here. If can drive an electric gadget in parallel tracks over the field, I can let do it pretty much anything I want. Re: Ideas for EV farm machinery

Since you'll have torque from low speeds, it changes the nature of the gearing and differential massively - dual motors with planetary reductions? My Idea was to use ordinary standard industrial asynchronous AC induction motors. They are designed for 24/7 and quite cheap. Simplest design would be t...

Re: Ideas for EV farm machinery

still playing with the cable loss calculator. Losses scale inverse to the square of voltage, and DC is more effective than whatever fluctuating stuff such as AC. I think I should go for DC at max of the cabling rate. If I stay with H07RN-F - which is a standard cable type, produced at high volume di...

Re: Ideas for EV farm machinery

The challenge of reeling and unreeling doesn't sound that complicated in the first instance. If I have GPS guided track and speed, I have reeling rate to compare against, I can check the cable tension and compare real reeling rate with real speed - to check for problems. I'm sure that's not a wheel ...

Re: Ideas for EV farm machinery

Just did a quick hack to check feasibility. (Used some online tool in German language) 10 kW, 400V-3P -> 14,43 A 500 m cable lengt, 10 mm² -> 5,3 % voltage drop This is more than recommendet for fixed installations in DIN 18015, but still OK I think. I even might live with more, 4mm² -> 13,25% , 226...

A good reel system with a high voltage cable could avoid the need for mobile batteries. Hm... interesting idea. Not sure how reliable this were. Re: Kawasaki KL 250 A build

Did you consider splitting the pack into 20s 8p or 20s 16p modules? Not my plan yet. Compared the batteries weight to the drivers weight  and decided that it's not worth the hassle. I'll make 4 x 5S32P I'd attach quite fixed. When I want the controller to run at 200 or 250 A boost amps, I thin...
