Re: Wind and Solar vs Coal, Gasoline, Nuclear

The percentage values dont change that if you find yourself in a gas tight sealed room, you die if you dig up things and burn them, and the precise amount that induces death is just trivia. Likewise, nuclear is just digging up an burning an absurdly costly fuel with terrible emmisions eventually (at...

Novec is pretty phenomenal in all aspect$$$, including its ability to weep right through most common fluid sealing interfaces. Quite the fluid to contain long term in complex systems, but possible to do. "an immersive-cooled battery pack"... 8) See that enormous radiator at the front? If they are im...

Not questioning its LTO, but thst doesn't mean its a bad product or isn't a good part for the application. I haven't safety tested many varieties of supercap, but what I have tested made LTO cell safety tests look like kittens in comparison. Its not a bad thing at all to be using LTO for bulk energy...

Controller gain to high?
Does it have something to do with the PI regulation of torque mode?

It is normal controller tuning experience to spend at least days if not weeks of adjusting PID tuning loops in controllers before you can achieve full power from them.

I work and buy plenty and would way rather see every penny possible getting reinvested into scaling the mfg volume while demand is currently effectively unlimited. Pulling cash out now vs investing it into volume mfg would be an insane failure of long-term management. Who even cares about profits? P...

Thank you for the kind words guys. It was overall a nice ride and bike did well and held up fine despite my blowing my one important job as a rider to make sure I didn't pedal strike. Less injury than my last pedal strike on a fixed gear road bike wearing no gear (and last time riding one, though I ...

Maybe first broken bone riding sur-ron on video to date, one rib has the familiar clicking of creptis on bone ends if I move around or laugh or cough. Re: Emsiso emDrive 500 (100kW Peak, 800A/125VDC)

Why is it limited to 428amps on an 800amp controller?? Is it a pack power limitation? That bike and tire wants all the torque you can throw at it right away when you set the tire pressure right for the carcass to load and deform and running sliding at 15-20% slip ratio for as long as you have power ...

In California at least, it seems like 10% of the cars I see on the road are Model S or Model X. This is what matters, the rest is bean-counter bullshit.

Sounds like an amazing adventure, Justin! Much respect for taking this on. For solar panels, I noticed sunpower sells their cells for individual projects which are pretty efficient. I ran 232vdc and 1,000amps into my ADC 8" motor in my sparrow. It really hated 1,000amps and would randomly eject blasts of molten copper, but made good torque and kept running somehow. In really dry weather, it would handle it pretty well, and in humid conditions or if I ever got the motor wet from...

There's a reason sur rons are cheap...they're crappy. Happy to agree to disagree, but I've never seen such attention to detail or good engineering and assembly craftsmanship from any China ebike or motorcyle. Riding them feels way better than you might expect. I blast them through big rock gardens ...

I've been working with some 720vdc to 960vdc systems lately for grid energy storage packs. Re: Emsiso emDrive 500 (100kW Peak, 800A/125VDC)

Some controllers give "field weakening" in a net amount of amps, some give it in a percentage change of base current. However your controller software handles "field weakening", especially for a dragster you want to set it for the maximum the motor still keeps making more top-end power with, and typ...
