Re: Giant DH Team - Custom frame - Melbourne Australia

Young fella named Millzy.

He's going to transfer his Magic Pie motor and 6 x zippy pack lipos onto it, and stick knobblies on it.

Should be pretty sweet with ~3500 watts.

Re: Giant DH Team - Custom frame - Melbourne Australia

SOLD! Sorry to the guys who made offers from Perth. It was just easier to sell it locally. Sad to see it go, but the building was always the most fun for me. Mark PS. I still have a half built 24 cell headway pack + charger, the red Bomber Junior T forks, some Dirt Jumper 3 forks, and a pair of XT c...

Re: Giant DH Team - Custom frame - Melbourne Australia

Good guess. It's 36kg.
It has a Green Geared BMC V4 clutch assy. fitted. Not that it helped in the end.

A local guy is coming to take a look.

Re: Giant DH Team - Custom frame - Melbourne Australia

Yeah, sorry, it's a MAC motor. The keyway in the axle that holds the freewheel/carrier for the planet gears has failed. I do have another axle, but it's a major exercise to rebuild the motor from scratch. And then it will just fail again.... I'd be fitting a big direct drive motor, unless something ...

Ok guys, I have an offer. But it involves shipping it across the country - I have to sort out how to do that/how much it would cost.

So it's going...going...

SOLD: Giant DH Team - Custom frame - Melbourne Australia

I've decided to sell my custom frame Giant DH Team which was the subject of this build thread: http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=15439 My life has changed and I'm now ferrying kids (mine and the neighbour's) to school in the morning in the car, so the purpose of the ebike - commut...

Re: Build your own CD battery tab welder for about $100.00+-

I have 3 Monster brand 1 farad caps (two from Texaspyro), and they do go PHWAP and weld nickel shim no problemo. They all measure over 1 farad. But I blew my SCR. Hopefully only half of it is blown, it's two-in-one. I saw a DIY welder on hackaday, where the guy just whacked two big copper blocks tog...

Re: BiGH's Ride!

Come around to my place sometime and we'll fit a cell.

Or drop the pack off at my work one day (Mt Waverley) and pick it up again when it's done.

I have lots of cells, and some shim.

Re: Mark_A_W's DH Team/MAC Shanghai/64v Headway build

No, the motor is completely dead.

I'm slowly building a new battery pack and saving for a new motor (3540). The geared motor experiment is over, the concept is good, but the engineering is not up to the task = they go fast but they break.

Re: Keyne's DH Comp Build

Hi Doc

I'm also a CAD user (it's my job), and I have the DH-Team, which soon will have a HT35 motor too.

I'd really like a copy of those files please! I can add my battery box, and tweak the dropouts, and I'd have a good model of my bike.

I'll send you a PM

Cheers

Re: E-S Stealth Electric Bike Owners

Yeah, but they mount to the bike in completely different ways (usually on the axle). That would be good if John could adapt that to work, but if you are stuck with a traditional hanger then those bomb proof ones won't fit. I broke my derailleur when I tried (and failed..) to beat the railway gate :t...

I've broken a derailleur and I'd still put one a fighter.

It's been done, one of the guys here has a fighter with a derailleur.

Re: UK Giant DH Team eBike - First build!

Nice bike :P

Have you thought about how you are going to mod the dropouts?

And does this frame have 135 or 150mm rear dropout spacing? If it has 150mm you will really struggle to find a motor with an axle long enough to span the distance..

Re: Mark_A_W's DH Team/MAC Shanghai/64v Headway build

Well, another day another failure. The BMC V3 freewheel failed, so I got it welded. Then the Keyway failed, so I got the freewheel welded to the axle. But a welded freewheel puts enormous shock loads on the gears, as they never get a break - when you roll down a gutter, the gears get the full force ...

@Mark_A_W : You mean , you welded the axle holes and clamp? Not the steel to the aluminum? I've been thinkin about either welding the axle hole and clamp and grinding 10mm vertical dropouts , or grinding out vertical dropouts from the axle hole , 14mm wide. either way , I'll use steel torque-plates...

Re: Giant DH-team offroad build. R&D thread

Just some points from skimming through this thread: 1. Twitchy throttle over bumps: A half grip throttle is best here, you can hang on with your little fingers and actuate the throttle with finger and thumb. A trigger throttle would be good too, assuming you can get it to work with brakes and gears ...

Nice bike. I like the colour :)

I have a couple of points/questions:

1. Brake Switches??

2. Legal????

Other than that, carry on, looks good, perfect frame for it.
