Re: Definitive Tests on the Heating and Cooling of Hub Motor

There would still be too many differences for any one camp to claim victory. The only way I see (which members would agree on) is to have Justin compare the two methods in his lab setting, so as to minimize variables. Otherwise, it doesn't matter if you climb Pikes Peak, speculation persists.

Welcome to liquid cooling! Now all you have to do is defend yourself against the "holes are better" gang. If they would only just try it...

Re: Anti spark XT90 connectors

I'm fairly sure the pre-charge only "charges" when you begin to make the connection. As you slide the connector on all the way, the pre-charge disengages, while the main connects completely.

Re: Anti spark XT90 connectors

Just got my xt90's in the mail. Looks like there is a very small "5.6ohm" printed on the connector. With that, what maximum voltage should these be good for?

Thanks for the update. I have mine on order. I have a 25s lipo pack to try. Hopefully no spark, but I doubt it.

Re: Anti spark XT90 connectors

It doesn't really give any information on what wattage/resistance these are. I currently have a 1000ohm 10 watt resistor for my 100V setup. Not sure if this would work or not.

I'd try again. I'm sure John will chime in here on which wires to switch, but there should be a proper forward combo.

Re: Going as fast as you can on 250Watts

I like it, but that torque arm isn't doing a damn thing (not that you need it with 250 watts). The two metal pieces of the arm need to be welded together. Otherwise, the arm is just sliding up and down the fork, with rotation at the middle bolt.

Re: what motor based upon my grades?

For the easiest solution, just throw 200ml of ATF fluid in the 9c and you'll have no problems with those hills. Just inspect the axle end where the wires come out from time to time. You may have minor leakage to wipe off.

Re: Interest check! Water cooling kit for Cromotor

I've been oil cooling for 3 years now. No loose magnets. If people do get loose magnets, the problem isn't the oil, its the epoxy holding the magnets.

Re: What's a good red rear tail light for e bike?

The planetbike superflash series of rear lights are very popular, very bright and easy on the batteries. You can use rechargeables if you need to be green. After a few months on the road at night I found these. Have not used anything else since. http://www.biketiresdirect.com/product/planet-bike-su...

Wh/mi = (1.8152(mph)^2 - 23.446(mph) + 154.58)/mph

So for 20mph, wh/mi = 20.7

According to the known laws of Gonzonian physics, if you don't provide the math, then it cannot possibly be true. I'm not convinced Gonzo's mother is mathematically provable either.

Re: 9C 2810 on Ebikes.ca Simulator

FYI, I ran my 2810 at 30s lipo for a long while (my Pikes Peak setup). Topped out at 42mph. This seems in line with the others' speeds. The 2810 has been dead reliable, although I do run liquid cooled. I now run 25s at about 60amps peak.

Re: How fast?

I built a Trek 3700 a few years ago. Practically identical to the one above. It is very stable at high speeds. As for pot holes, unless it is a very large one, you will just glide right over them at those speeds. The frame is rock solid. I rode up Pikes with it a couple years ago. On the descent, I ...

Re: Oil cooling your hub- NOT snake oil!

I've been oil cooling since 2012 (Pikes race). In the 2 years of use, I haven't seen any magnet loosening etc.. The key to this whole issue is finding a suitable vent. You cannot/should not completely seal the motor. The air/oil inside WILL expand (like freezing water breaking a rock). The oil WILL ...

I was in the same situation. I just want a maintenance free tire. I've been using the same Specialized Armadillo Crossroads MTB tire for the last 3 years with zero issues. I also use a 2.25mm thick downhill MTB tube (although now I don't think its necessary). These tires are a bit pricey. I bought m...
