Re: 9c/HS35/X5 Norco 125 DJ 100v project

Feels safe to me, stops in 12 feet or so and I've only fallen once going around a tight corner in the rain.
The fire was not the batteries fault, it was a stove wiring problem.

Re: 9c/HS35/X5 Norco 125 DJ 100v project

So we ordered 25 Turnigy 5ah 20c batts from the washington warehouse to the Roethel parcel service in ogdensburg, For 5 bucks you can get anything delivered there and held for you. We drove down from Ottawa, crossed the boarder, grabbed the parcel and headed back. 1100 worth of batts meant 150 in im...

Re: 9c/HS35/X5 Norco 125 DJ 100v project

Haven't posted anything here in quite a while... I road this bike into the ground as my daily rider for 2 seasons. Then in June last summer my apartment burnt down and I lost the batteries but not the bike. It has been unused since then and a total refit is occurring as we speak! I am going to strip...

Re: Oatnet's x5403/Norco A-line, and Front-Mount battery stu

Oatnet, I am about to copy your battery box build. I'll probably be ordering the same racing clamps; I wanted to know, how restricted is the turning radius by those clamps? they look like they hit the frame like a bumper would, and I just wondered if it was a noticeable loss of turn ability?

Quad controller with auto-relay feature that swaps from the first blown board to the second non blown one on the fly during a race? 4 controllers in succession might just see you through a typical rc motor death race :P. edit* Oh, of course the first one would probably fail explosively killing the r...

Re: 420A 24S ESC by aliens

No matter what voltage it is at if it gets close to 10kw output that would be freaking impressive, although since it is a 420amp*100v esc technically I guess they are claiming 42kW max output?. Considering what goes into an 18fet infineon to do 10kw my bet is this won't get close. So i'm betting mor...

His time is valuable beyond us being antsy about the results. Cease these baseless attacks upon a much more important knowledgeable and contr...

Re: A-Lines Abound: New motor installed, testing begins

Do you mean how you are now maxing out the 99 amps? It's probably because thats how many watts it takes to go 30mph on your setup. Your speed is being fought by aerodynamics, so your controller pushes till it can't if it's not maxing out the motor rpm.

Re: A-Lines Abound: Battery box... CHECK!

battery heat will not be a problem. no one has ever really had that problem with high AH lipo because the C rates on the lipo bricks are huge and rarely taxed. Having more AH is actually better from a bat heat point of view, each individual battery is being taxed less the more there are in parallel...

Re: A123 20Ah Prismatic Cell, outside wrap loose?

I think it would be mechanical penetration that caused it to fail. I dont think there is a report of a sealed pack de-vacuming from anything but being pierced. So once they are in your pack safe and sound assembled they will not delaminate or devacuum.

Re: A123 20Ah Prismatic Cell, outside wrap loose?

it means the vacuum has failed and there is a pinhole somewhere in the pouch. If you can find it then suck the air out as much as possible and tape over the hole and then compress the cell. As long as it's holding a voltage its fine, but if the layers begin to delaminate (say through bend testing) y...

Re: A-Lines Abound: Pic-Porn of custom drive mount

Halving the kv would mean half the rpm for a given voltage. Pushing twice the amps doesnt reach that original rpm, that is set by your battery voltage*the kv. If you have half the kv but didn't change the controller or mechanical reduction, it would be easier on the controller to hit it's new top sp...

Re: Fire : Mikita batteries

Recycled cell ebike battery packs have come a long ways. Dude, I recycle batteries too. I know it`s not that easy; you can`t parallel a high C rate cell and a low C rate cell and say that it can produce the high C rate. At the very least you would see huge voltage drop and more likely you will quic...

Re: Fire : Mikita batteries

And the cheapest li ion is recycled laptop cells
That is simply not a relevant statement. For most of us, laptop batteries will never supply the C ratio needed for an ebike. So weather they are monetarily cheapest per individual unit is irrelevant compared to their energy density and C rate.

Re: Fire : Mikita batteries

LFP has more important things to do then chase down the brand of cylinder batts he was testing. There is absolutely no conspiracy to push people on e-s to HK batteries, that's just the cheapest easiest place worldwide for lipo. Check the Used section, DoctorBass sells used Makita packs so you can ge...

Re: Norco A-line 144v 200amp Lipo 150km/h build

Update- So one of my 40 chunks of batts died, so I have had to pull apart the fiberglass case. Good news is that was easy as hell; the packing tape layer I used on the batts inside meant that they literally slid out of the case after I dremeled it open. So I'm redoing the case and 100 of the batteri...

Re: 5403 is now availlable on the ebikes.ca simulator

They were a custom limited production run associated with a group buy E-S set up with crystalyte. That's why they are unavailable and expensive. Those 8-10 Justin ordered were a big investment/ gamble on his part; a small stockpile for people who missed the group buy which are legitimately expensive.

Re: Would this power a hyperion 14s? Ultra 600W ATX

I use ATX's but only because getting meanwells in Canada is annoying. You need two and you need to wire their yellow 12v rail together with the black ground of the second one. Then you need to cut the internal ground wires that will be connected to the metal case on the inside of the psu. Then you s...
