No. it is for soldering the flux capacitor feed lines on my home brew hover board..I want one before 2015

This little beasty will make soldering those big bullets to 8 gauge wire a doddle

Yep that was the idea. I had one half the size before, a really old one, it finally died a few months back. Wanted something big...cheap too..about £25 so $40 or so

Tried that but it just tarnishes the RC Cable, just bought one of these soldering irons.

Oh man that reminds me, I once built an 1100V 1 A power supply for a
shortwave transmitter (using vacuum tubes). 50 % of the time when you
plugged it in the circuit breaker would trip. Pressing the morse key (I knew
morse code by ear) would dim the lights in the room and shut down
the fan on my computer. I remember once a neighbour showing up
telling me he had funny noises on his radio and did it have something to
do with the antenna in the garden

Our old miller tig welder, when it was set on high-frequency and you tried to weld something that wasn't grounded, would pop the GFCI several rooms even houses over. Wreaks havoc with our alarm system that calls us whenever the power is cut.

I used to have a friend with a 1KW linear for 80,40,20. the antenna was a center loaded 5/8 wave ground plane on the flat roof of my building. next door, at the same level as the antenna there was a back lit fluorescent sign that was almost never turned on. well it used to glow whenever the mic was keyed.

Yes, it does have a fair bit of weight in the tip.

I never did the morse code exams, never even got on to the SW bands. I started with CB radio, then got my amateur licence for 2m but never took it further.
