Has Anyone Made The Jump From Goretex To eVent?

Postby Joseph C. » Tue May 01, 2012 5:37 pm

Just curious to know if anyone has used Goretex fabric and eventually moved on to eVent.

I am starting to get sick of the breathability and condensation issues that occur in heavy rainfall. :x

From what I hear eVent is a far superior material. Has anyone had any experiences with it?

I have but haven't tested the event in heavy rain. Only light rain. But from what Rain I've been in it's kept me dry.

Yes, what about condensation?

The problem I have with Gore-tex is that there is a lot of condensation during heavy rainfall.

My Goretex jacket after 15 years didn't keep me dry in the end. I have an event it's the light weight Macpac model and I have used it for one winter.

I have only used it on my 1 hour commute to work and it's kept me dry where the Goretex jacket I've used on the same trip hasn't.

I can say that this jacket for commuting is very good and packs down to a very small size. To date I'm very pleased and the condensation is good compared to Goretex. I'm looking forward to a good 8 hour hike to really test it to see if it does remove the sweat. I ride with a merino single too.

I believe the condensation was leakage during heavy rain fall. It was for me.

Excellent info, Rodney.

I have the Paclite Gore-tex - probably a similar product (just not as good) so I cannot justify purchasing another jacket. A trousers though is a different story.

Damn the EU and their customs duty - it will have to be Amazon.co.uk.
