It seems that the bigger the dog the lower the average life span of it. And the smaller the dog gets the more cocky and loud it becomes.
There has got to be a happy medium

But nevertheless, big dogs rule. When I moved into the house, the neighbor warned us about vandals and burglary of the cars out front etc. 11 years later, not one problem, for me or the immediate neighbors. You see those teen troublemakers walk a little faster past my house when they see the pack. They fear the chain link fence won't hold em back. Other day I went out to get the paper and the garage door had been open all night. 4 ebikes right on the doorstep, visible power tools, etc. All still safe as in a bank vault.

I love dogs.. not sure i could handle a st bernard tho, them suckers are HUGE... and man.. do they drooooool
