Someday, this technology will be widely used. Lamborghini is making extensive use of it in their monocoques. They actually have a factory just for making the carbon pieces located right next to their factory. They say that the technology will be cheap enough to be used in consumer cars not too far from now. Car manufacturers are having a tougher time squeezing more efficiency out of ICE motors as they are nearing limits, so the next huge step in reducing costs and increasing efficiency is about "adding lightness"
