Shell dumps wind, solar and hydro power in favour of biofuel

that's a damn lie & they know it.
wind produced electricity is already cheaper to produce by anyone's accounting.

solar produced electricity is outrageously expensive using conventional PVs.
nano-solar paint otoh should be able to produce electricity even cheaper than wind power.
i wonder if this is an indication that this is another tech they've successfully suppressed since solar paint was supposed to be made available late last year already.

the continental hydro resource has already been pretty much tapped, at least the larger ones in NA maxing out at around 10% contribution of the overall electricity supply.
there are micro-hydro sources that still can be exploited but it's a lot of work for small return, that would be the only one that has some truth behind it.

they are trying to mold perception toward using bio-fuels cuz they've manipulated corn prices to bankrupt independant ethanol co-ops which then they bought out for cheap.
i can see them putting a big push on bio-fuels, now that they've gained dominance over that market. they can once again manipulate the price, shutting out any up-n-comers preventing ethanol competing with the price of gasoline.
u wanna use ethanol instead of gasoline? fine with them, the price/mile will magically be exactly the same like it is with diesel, LNG, propane, batteries ...

...they are not economic...
In 20th-century economics things are only "economic" when someone *else* bares the full costs (future generations, China etc)
;->

I think it makes sense for them, they are already set up to handle liquid fuels, tankers, pipelines and refineries. There also has been a lot of research going into increasing biofuel yields and using non food stuff crops. And is it not supposed to be a carbon neutral source?

A stop along Justin's Cross Canada presentation (and not mentioned in the thread, IIRC) was mounds of fermenting grain he saw in Saskatchewan.
Food prices and fuel prices were rising out of sight while these huge piles of wheat sat rotting.
The plant designed and built to make it into biofool wasn't ready yet.

Shell is the evil oil corp holding the patents on batteries(not allowing them to be made in large scale) isn't it?

Shell was the one that bought up and burned the plans for the 100 MPG carburetor.
