Reid Welch Returns (was Re: E.S. Quotable Quotes !)

As entertaining as that might be, I'll believe it when he starts using the OLD account to post.
That would be difficult since the memberpage says he was banned.

(speaking of which, isn't permanent banning supposed to be permanent?)

I would not be able to recover the original account, anyway, having long ago lost that email account.
Got a Juiced Bikes Crosscurrent S last month, enjoying the bike very much and also writing about it at EBR.

I had forgotten I was the first regular member of this forum, that is to say, when VisforVoltage was hacked, knightMB told me about a pet alternate forum he had created months earlier. We all began hopping on board here at that time, me being the first hopper.

Now I am both the newest, and the oldest, regular member, in a sort of way.

How many memberships does ES have in total today? I read somewhere, that it is over 20k? Is that so? Wow, great!

Is that really our Reid Welch? Back from another dimension?

Or would it be 'Back from prison?'
The judge, the alleged victim's former city hall cohort, would not send me to prison (where I would have had access to legal help). He sentenced me to five consecutive, one-year terms in the felony pre-trial cells of Dade County Jail for five attempted (unanswered) phone calls to the city hall office of the city commissioner who bonked me on the head unaware from behind, one year earlier. I defied an illegal injunction, you see, to demand justice, for the cowardly battery I protested against.

The sig line contains link to the brief substantiating my claim that I was railroaded.

On to bikes. The Crosscurrent S is the best ready-built ebike value out there today.

Shouldn't this be in its' own thread? I'm sure there are many who are dying to read the epic adventure, but it's a story in its' own right.

The CrossCurrent S is a great ready made ebike. Nothing Frankenstein about it. I am enjoying mine every day, customizing it, too!

Here is a fresh YT video of mere fluff, but it is accurate. So, I will quote just one salient comment.

One big thing Juiced Bikes has over other Chinese-built ebikes is that Tora Harris, the owner, not only goes to China to oversee engineering and build quality, but he speaks fluent Mandrin. He also has a degree in aerospace engineering and is a former Olympic athlete, so his bikes are designed, built and tested using his winning combination of talents. This is so crucial to getting things done right. Kudos to him.

I write about my CCS at EBR's forum,

Ravi is a Guiness record holder. His response sort of moved me to rejoin.

I am not much. I certainly failed. I took a stand and I failed. This is, of course, the country that elected Donald Trump. Sig line link. No-one has right to strike down another person. But, Donald Trump on a protester: "I'd like to punch him in the face." That is OK today in the USA. Words to the contrary are lip service. I've seen and felt and experienced the truth, tens of thousands of hours of it. The brief linked below is of no real concern here. The core issue, of your right to freedom of fear of assault, and your expectation of peaceful redress if assaulted by a policeman or other public official, is not relevant anymore. If you read this in the USA you read it in a police state.

On to bikes. The Crosscurrent S is the best ready-built ebike value out there today. Strictly your opinion, care to elaborate?

It is an opinion, but not just strictly my own.

Compare features and prices of bikes spec'd like the CCS and the new fatbike brother of the CCS, the RipCurrent.

Amazing what you get for the money: https://www.juicedbikes.com/products/ripcurrent-s (pre-orders).

(CCS is in stock today; to your door for $1699 with a one-year warranty and it goes an honest 28 mph.)

does not inspire much confidence that you had to oil a motor on i assume a fairly new product. agree that it looks like a good deal for the money but if you investigate a little you will find a lot of unhappy owners and spotty customer service. also the hyperfat had a huge price increase from its initial price. Good luck with your bike.

I remember you had a front-wheel-drive cruiser in fairly flat Florida. Maybe not a hot rod, but...miles of smiles?

Sorry to hear about your past troubles, best of luck on a brighter future...

You should move to Canada and start again!

I'm guessing Canada would say no. They're jerks like that, if perhaps in no other way.

It's good to have you back, Reid.

It's good to have you back, Reid.

... hehe... to the `Sphere. Where "strange" is "normal".

This is more unexpected than Nikola Tesla posting his latest build. :D

Great to see your post and a big hello.

ABC News put the video on its national news website
http://abcnews.go.com/US/video/bicyclists-camera-captures-collision-car-53460819

and on its FB page soon after the local broadcasts
https://www.facebook.com/WorldNewsTonight/videos/10155792527529818/

The current topmost comment (mine) at the Facebook page promotes a new mnemonic. Look Signal Merge Turn; L.S.M.T.

Fun is found from near the top to the bottom of the commentary section with its lively deadly outcropping of homicidal trolls, 21 pages' worth.

I hope the video prevents someone else from getting hurt. That was the sole point of posting it to YouTube last week.

I am off the bike for days to come because my right knee is messed up and healing.

So, meanwhile, I am repairing the bike and installing previously planned upgrades: going to a 10S drivetrain to gain a clutch derailleur to stop chain drops. Also coming is a narrow-wide 56T chainring. The new cassette is a ZTTO 11-42. The derailleur is a NOS 2014 Shimano RD-M786 found at a relative bargain price at Jensen ($65 w/free 2-day delivery).

Most importantly, in case next time I have the opportunity to brake (and yeah, I realize now my error), the front brake is upgrading to Magura MT5 four-piston w/203mm rotor, with retention of the rear, OEM, Tektro two piston caliper w/180mm rotor.
Here, just found postscript an MT5 review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pMD0YiIrQEg

A newly improved mnemonic. L.S.M.T.D.I.L.Y.A.S.T.L.F.O.N.M.

Look, Signal, Merge, Turn, Damn It, Look, You Are Supposed To Look First, Oh, No, Mother.

^^

I DO NOT RIDE WITH A HELMET, dear friends. I cycle today with head unprotected.

I do this for a reason.

BTW, I met an ebiker named MARIO yesterday afternoon.

Mario was sporting a 1999 EV Warrior he has revived with a new battery pack and expertise...

No helmet helps, IMO.

You pays your money with your life risks...

Car drivers are a bit more gentle with unhelmeted cyclists, imo...

...(this is merely an opinion piece. But I have thought about it a lot,

and for those of us who bicycle manually, not 30 km/hr, no helmet is safer and a lot more fun.

I will send a link to this posting to new acquaintance Mario.

Tell him: Reid is the first and oldest existing member of this forum?

That much is true! Grins, :D

HD CRASH!
