I've now made my final decision on batteries, and have realised that you have to invest in them. I am going to aim for this set: http://elitepowersolutions.com/products/product_info.php?cPath=26_33&products_id=106 which has everything i need and would be ideal for the project. I have a motor and controller and everything else. Just need the batteries, bms and charger. And this set looks great. It probably saves me money. Note the free shipping.

Just a small update.
Kelly claim they will be sending the gear at the start of march, because they have to 'make' the waterproof controller etc.
My parts from evworks should be here next week!
Ill take some photos when some stuff arrive.

It was all packaged very very well, no damage to anything at all, considering it flew over nearly half the world lol!!

Jake, can you tell me where you bought the hub motor? It didn't come with the wheel on it, did it? Did the hub motor come from Kelly ? Also, what is the black box? Is that your charger? Also, how thick is the axle on the hub motor...could it fit on a bicycle?

Hi Morph,
I got the hub motor from kelly controllers, its the 48v 3000w version with high speed. I ordered the wheel and tube with it, and since i ordered them together, they fitted it for me. They also fitted the controller on the assembly. The black box is the dc/dc converter, 48v down to 12v, its bigger than i expected though. I'm not too sure how thick it is, but its the thickest axle i have seen lol. Its bigger than the one on the gt50 and my old gn250, you would just need to modify the bike a bit!
Once i get my batts, which wont be for a while i will do some testing and vids!

Can anyone help me with my problem. I also bought a kds 24-36v 100 amp controller and i am having problems connecting both the wuxing and the magura throttle>???
I cant seem to get the wires right, can anyone help?

Hi.

I did about the same than you ( http://www.motoelectrique.unblog.fr ) and I think acid battery would not fit for this.
The 3000W motor need more than 60A in some case so, if you use 20Ah battery, you need it can support 3X discharge.

A question: I ordered and received the 3000W motor and would like someone explain me how to install brake disk kit.

I am not sure how to fit it yet. It seems really weird. I am still saving up for the lifepo4, but i think in the next couple weeks i will start to fit everything.
I a going to be using thunder sky 40ah batts.

I forgot to say, on image shack you get a special code already done, with the site address. You just copy that in.
Picture works, but that is a completely different setup I tried quite a few times, could not get the right position. Ill keep trying.

If you do so, this mean motor axe is in the wrong position (you can't the wheel in).
Second, where do you put the big hole ?
There is also the problem with screws : there is no correct position because total lenght will be too long.

For me, that's mean ( for the 3000W motor )
- I have to increase big hole so axe will be abble to go in
- I have to cut so the metal plate go exactly for parrallel disk brake position

at the right, I have to put a screw or something like that to avoid system to turn. Is this correct ?
Note: the tire is not on the right side. Il will have to take off and reverse or put the system on left motorcycle side instead right...

Just another thing: I think tire was on the good side because of "star" drawing you can see.



That's means disk must be at left side of the motorcycle, not at the right one as usual.

John500, your help is great. Although we aren't building scooters are we? We are converting our motorcycles. The way kelly has it, as i see it, is correct. As long as the wheel spins the right way, and the disk brake is mounted and working fine. I will be happy. That is what orpheedulogis has proven with kellys help. I am going to try get it mounted today, with the diskbrake fitted aswell. I will attempt the way kelly has told us to, and the way it is shown by orphee. And when i get it done i will upload some pics!

Is it very important ? Except for the look I don't think so and ... today I gived the swingarm part to be soldered for metal plate fixation.
So my disk braking system will be at the left for first.
