Voltron the Electric RG250 - Dual Agnis, Kelly 1200A controller, 6 kWh of A123 cells from Cell_Man and a shitty old chassis from 1985 :| Top speed 180 km/h, max current 600 A @ 100 V.
VoltronII 8)
Say no to spaghetti junction LiPo! Assembled Hi-power LiPo packs of any size!

Come on Casey! If you want prototype racing, throw your leg over something with lithium in it :D

Yes! This is a sign of the scales tipping in our favor!

The Design of the RCE is gorgeous. Just like HFL says a timeless gorgeous design.

I wonder what the actual performance is like...

I was starting to think that Honda was falling off a bit with some of their recent offerings. They're barely competitive with goofy technology. Hopefully they're looking far forward. I've been a long time Honda groupie.

P.S. good to see another HFL fan :)

According to published data, they used an Insight motor, same thing used in the insight car.

They keep talking about how it looks old school and timeless. The only thing about that bike that looks old school is the front number plate. The rest looks totally 2012.

Where did you read this? I have two civic IMA motors (second gen with flat wire coils, the third gen is the same but double wide). There are super heavy, but should put out 40kw+ each. The low speed efficiency is really good for a BLDC motor. I'm guessing Honda lightened it up quite a bit for the RC-E. I'm debating on whether to build a bike because when I add it all up I can buy a new 2012 Zero with a warranty.

I've read the RC-E pack is removable for use in other machines...like what I don't know

Lots of concepts from Honda... but little more than very stale gas powered offerings for sale.

I hope this company comes through on some of these. There is genuinely interesting stuff here.

Too bad it is only a concept vehicle. It uses the electric motor from Honda's hybrid car, so that is probably not optimized for electric motorcycle use. It is a great looking bike, but I would be happy to hear that Honda has plans to produce it.

It looks like a nice machine. It bugs me that the world's most successful motorcycle company isn't going anywhere with this concept. They make an amazing chassis, race winning technology in the handling, and God knows how much money to throw at developing electric drive trains... If you can get a continuous 75 kW out of a motor that weighs less than 30 kg, and peaks of well over 100 kW, then this bike may have it all.

I'll still try to build my own though ;)

The last rumor I heard was they are going to use the Mission Motors drivetrain. I guess it all depends on magnet prices. I think Zero should team up with Mission for the ZERO R.

Honda is well known for putting out concepts all the time. Cool stuff, wacky stuff... like that thing sk8norcal posted. But they never seem to put it into production... Will we see these bikes on Honda showroom floors any time soon? Maybe in 5-10 years, but not next year, that's for sure.
