Lowering seat of the Zero motorcycles DS

Postby Doctorbass » Sun Jul 08, 2012 2:53 pm

Before spending 300+ $ for a lower version seat and being not able to use the brand new original seat of my zero that is too high for me, i prefered to lower it at a cost of few dollars.

I know i could have done that job by myself but i did not wanted to risk some irreparable mistake so i asked some prefessional guys that are specialist in that kind of job

It cost me 40$ total and i got my seat a perfectly reworked!!!

The just removed the cover, cut the foam and sand it to have smooth surfaces and reinstall the cover.

The difference in confort is minimal and the difference of stability when standing on the motorcycle with my foot on the ground is really interesting!

here is some pictures i took for you to show the comparison between BEFORE and AFTER:

I can say it really worth trying it!!! I got 2 inch lower

I like it Doc! It looks like it will get your center of gravity down and reduce some air resistance on you not being so high up. Did he use an electric meat carving knife?

I watched the guys at Corbin in Holister sculpt a seat and it was very interesting. The guy kept carving away very thin layers with the electric meat knife then would stop and spray contact cement and add more foam. He then went back to carving for awhile and he repeated ths process four more times until he came up with a finished product. The guy was a perfectionist.
