Looking great! Are you still using the same motor?
Power is a fascinating thing, the more you have, the more you want, but the real power is having the restraint not to use it all at once...............Um...Yeah..

Good news! Mine too! How many amps continuous is it taking these days?

for the curious (not me  ) what sort of motor it is?
My eyes tell me it is smaller than a c80-100, but I cannot tell how much smaller ...

The current limit on the controller im using at the moment is 80A so hot off the charger its around 4kw and it handles this very well. There is no signs of the windings getting to hot, but these tend to be very short bursts of power so I still dont really know how much this motor will take I have thrown 120A at it for a short while and it did start getting a little to hot but I was more worried about my controller going pop rather than the motor thats why I have dropped it back down to 80A. My big controller is very nearly finished so when that gets tested to the max I think thats when I'm going to find exactly how much these small motors can take over a longer period.

Indeed it is a pity, and the same fate occurred to the c80-100 ... I got one in a open air market
for a fair price, but the future for whoever need those motors is unclear ...

Beside this, 80 to 120A with a standard 12 fet is quite a sensitive amount of current
Probably a bigger controller is a good idea if reliability is paramount in crawling over cars

What are the specs on your batteries and motor? I have a Honda S90 with a blown engine that may be a good candidate for e-power.

The battery that I am using is lipo 48v 10ah, the motor is a 3250w 170kv outrunner. The bike is still going strong but I still have not done any body work for it. I have the same setup ( motor and battery ) on a pitbike it weighs around 40kg ready to ride and also works very well if geared for around 30mph.

Nice. Didn't see it listed anywhere, is that about 38MM square tube X about 2.5 mm thick wall ??

Leader hobbies sell these and I got one for Christmas.

Edit: These are clones of the above hk motor, see below, I removed gratuitous photos of my motor.

I think they are a clone of the same motor, but I've never seen the original so can't compare.

That welding is superb. What method/equip are you using cause it looks really good. :D No beginner look, imo.

How did you do your alignment? Also, for the rear suspension how did you design it? Based on what?

Shoot some vids when you have a chance. 8)

Thanks for the kind words,
The alignment of the main frame was easy, I just clamped the square tube to a flat surface and welded it up, I used a hole saw to cut the the hole in the top tube for the head tube to fit ( the size of the hole saw was just right and left about 1mm each side of the square top tube and the head tube was a nice tight fit into the hole. The welder I have is a very cheap gas-less 90A mig ( around £59 new ). the hardest part was the swing arm but still easy to get straight by clamping to a flat surface. The suspension came out really well and works very well ( it could do with a stiffer ( progressive ) spring ) but it is more than useable . I just modelled it on a normal motorcycle mono shock suspension . I will try and get some vid when the weather get a bit better, because I haven't made no body work for it yet so I dont ride it when its to muddy or to wet  .

Its made from 40mm x 20mm x2.5mm steel, When I make another ( I have a new wider hub so it will need to be done ) I will do it slightly different to make it easier.

i'm still scratching my head...

so for example on the dropout, you cut out pieces, folded and welded the flap down?

how did you get the bend in the middle of the swingarm? or was that cut and welded there?

Yes I cut 3 sides of the tube bent and welded it.

Sorry Craig, no videos :(
I found that the rear shock is not up to the job to really show what the bike is capable of i.e splats and dropoffs so I didnt feel that it would be worth a video ( I would have to re-make the rear of the bike to accommodate a much better shock ), I have not forgotten about this project and still do ride it occasionally but now I have found the bikes limitations all my attention is now on getting a full size trials bike with proper suspension up and running.
