Strip back enough wire insulation to expose just enough to fill the barrel, no sense in stripping any more than requied, it just makes the tip that much more difficult to insert into the plastic tips, and makes a weak point between the tip and the insulation.

I place the 30 amp tips with the seam towards the male side of the vice, many other instructions propose the other way around.. but for me this works best.. I"ve done 100's of these this way and i have never had a failure yet.

In Pic 3.1 Notice the angle of the tip in the vice, you want the seam to be directly at the tip of the vice, centered..

All done !

Now, at this point you could solder them if you so wanted, but i honestly don't think it's required in most cases. I've tested them with vice grips and pulled them off and most of the copper strands come out with the tip !!!

For this LBD application it will be fine as is.

If you have small gauge wire, or like in this case, soft flexible stuff.. it's not always easy to get the wires into the housings..

Using a small screw driver or hex keys , what ever you have handy.. line up the spoon into the housings, and push the tip down from the back, if you put the tip of your screw driver directly at the back of the tip, where it meets the insulation, you can easily click it into place

When I converted my house to CFs, I kept the incandescents for stuff like this. (and for when I sell.)

:D

Absolutely. We need more illustrated tutorials there.
If I do that, posting will be limited to "Advisors" (this is done to prevent long disscussions from diluting the thread).

You are now added to that group, so you can post a copy of it there.
