Is there an off switch that prevents it from draining the batteries while in long term storage?
Give me nuclear batteries I say!! Ripped off by Joshua Goldberg to the tune of almost $900 re headway groupbuy for batteries, no $ no batteries

How big is the shunt current for balancing?

Just spotted it.. is says "UP TO 2A".. so that is - 0 to 2 A.. any specifics.

This is what I would need:
12-24s selectable
discharge FET either on-board (<100A) or off-board (500A max) with cable link
CANbus (http://www.energybus.info/)
balancer load on separate board with cable link selectable 0.1-2A

I am not sure if all versions I saw around allow 24s for LiFePO and only 20s for MnO (4.2V) chemistries?
I tried to find the BMS in an online shop - no luck.

is 'his company' visible online somewhere?

SOC is State Of Charge
Are those bars at the bottom the battery fuel gauge I have been dreaming of? Why are there 2 groups of bars?

I am curious to see how they calculate the SOC..
and if they work with both (Lipo, Limn or Lico)... and Lifepo4... and if so, how they affect the soc calculation... :?:

Would love to have the option of 28 or 32s for lifepo.

You pay an awful lot for those LCD displays. When I was talking to smarttec they were saying around $20 for 16s lifepo4 40a bms boards. Quality unknown though...

I have bought one from Linukas. If you guys think it will be better to get it from manufacturer, forget it. I have tried. It takes lots of time just explaining them what you want and in the end it costs more with TAX and shipping. 300USD is pretty cheap, you get sophisticated BMS, OK none of them will have all the functions each individual wants (unless u pay big bucks 1000+), but consider one sold here designed by ES members which is 250 + Shipping, TAX and still you have to assemble it your self and certainly will not b gettin fancy LCD :). I am not comparing those units just saying its convenient. The man is good with communications, and dispatch was swift, no problems what so ever. He was saying that he is testing BMS so in the end someone will be buying tested product.
I have not tested it and will be prob in summer as doing smaller project at the moment to familiarize myself with components and the way all fit together but will be posting experience with this unit later.
All the best

Yes, headway use Smartech BMS, I'm buying (also can offer, I have some 16s and 24s) from them too, these simple bms is good for small and cheep projects.

Any progress on these? I am looking for a 12s or 24s LiFePO4 BMS.

Yes ! You set the mAh rating in the software, then the BMS counts the energy with the current sensor and computes the SOC.
I have any idea of what king of algorithms they use, it might be a simple coulomb counter.

The 2 groups of bars are just a symmetrical display. 10% for each bar and displays "Low Power" when <10%.

Linukas is there something to set the BMS in sleep mode ?
After 30min on constant voltage and without current mine still uses about 10mA and the screen is always on.

I posted some modifications I made in this thread

That is an intersting BMS.

Here is what i would like they add to their actual model:

-battery above 24s , I have a friend who need a 48s for his motorcycle...

- The new V3 cycle analyst compute the Ah using the capacity count AND THE INTERNAL RESISTANCE OF THE BATTERY, This would be great to have this feature too.
