Best Battery for a Powertrike

Postby majypoo » Fri Apr 13, 2012 10:47 am

Hi People, I recently purchased a second hand PDQ Powertrike from Ebay mainly for the frame so I can modify it. One of the main problems I have with it is the battery weighs a ton, what would be the best battery I can buy (weight, distance) for a 32V/12AH?

Cheers

It depends on max amps you will draw under full throttle
Motorcycle: ZEV 6100, 77V, 40AH, 60+mph; CA, halogen head lights, and faster charger added
Cost to date: $1730, MSRP $6550 - $4120 tax credit - $1200 referrals + $500 mods

Well the battery that I have at the moment is 32v 12 AH so I was guessing it would have to be that, sorry I am a noob when it comes to this sort of thing. Would a different volt battery work with it?

Surely the controller has at least 50v caps in it. So assuming it's not a high amp controller, a pingbattery 36v 15 ah would be a great choice. You'd have 20 mile range or more at15 mph, and for sure 15 miles full throttle.

If the controller is marked 15 amps or lower, then you could economize and get the 10 ah, if that would be enough range for you.

According to this, 36v is ok. http://www.davincimobility.co.uk/index. ... powertrike

Cool device. Looks like it would be perfect for many, who don't like the 5 mph speed of regular powerchairs.

Best of all, could be overvolted with a new controller and 48v. How long before somebody's in the 40 mph club in one?
