I just got my first BL1850 battery from the batch i usually receive. These are very rare just like the BL1840. The most popular remain the BL1830.

It is made of the Samsung INR18650-25R.

2.5Ah
20A cont
50A 5sec
100A 1sec
( rated 9Wh per cell)

That is promissing for the next years!

From now i only got this one but in the next month and years i'll get mor eof these and also the BL1840 as well with the 2.0Ah cells

Yeah baby! And they come with tabs that are easy to rip off to separate the cells and make one awesome battery using compression like snath or holders like parallelbum. I new these would start showing up this year. Very good news.

Now don't you dare keep those beauties for yourself to put in your drag bike project :D

Year that's a good new as well !

I am using the Zero battery for my ebikes and drag bike.

Wow much easier to dismantle like the video i did on the the 1830 on youtube. If the price is right, i can mean really cheap high capacity battery.

How much are you charging?

These are really great cells just be aware even though they are rated a 20A continuous you would only get about 110 cycles out of them in 23C ambient (4.2V to 2.5V cutoff)

This is because the cell gets up to 95C if used at 20A continous in 23C ambient

Even with pulse discharge they get damaged. Telsa doesn't push their NCA cells more more than around 20A peak. Just because these cells are rated 100A momentary doesn't mean you should use them like that unless you are drag racing and cycle life is of little concern.

Tesla gets such great cycle life with NCA because they use liquid cooling...

See attached data sheet

Fathill,

I am not charging anything yet.. I can't get them in enough qty. I only got one from now out of the last 326 pack batch ( 500 pounds of Makita)

Once these get more popular i will get these as well as the BL1840 with the 2.0Ah cells.

The datasheet is really complete, thanks for posting it. That's what i call a full detailed specsheet !!

The pack i got had all the cells at 2.5V. I am slowly charging it up to 3 to 3.5V then i will put it on the makita charger to see how it perform

Bosch has a 2015 6Ah tool pack available on the euro market only to keep an eye out for at recyclers.

Waiting for mine too! From last batch (700 packs) I found only 4 BL1840.. Maybe in next years there will be much more BL1840 and BL1850 packs!

anttipa, are the BL1840 packs made of Samsung cells also?

No they are sony us18650vtc4 from warranty returns.

Does anyone have good idea how to clean used cells for spotwelding? When you rip nickel tabs off those small welding spots remains on cells.

Call me crazy but I would prefer the BL1840 packs with the Sony cells.

Man think about this, a Samsung battery pack, gives you about twice the range as you have for the same size and weight. With more power output (meaning less voltage sag) better life span then your battery pack made from Sony cells.

I don't call you crazy… but seriously its win win solution for me, no doubt about that!

Hey guys, please don't dream too much!..

I recall, I only got one pack out of a batch of 320!.. and I get about 1% of the pack that are the BL1840.. I only have 5 of these from now that I will keep for testing.

I got my first BL1840 about one year ago and today I have 4-5 from now.. at that rate building a ebike pack will take years!.

The BL1830 remain very popualar for the powertool customers. From what I heard at makita, For customers paying more (about 75% more) doesn't really worth it yet.

Well we will see ove rthe next month or years

Dremel? Takes about 1min per cell.

Look those nice paper gaskets on every positive pole end of Samsungs. :( They will, probably, not be as frequent as VTCs.

Bit slow because I have 2000 cells to clean but maybe there isnt faster way. Have to try that.

Fine grit on a table top belt sander? Might be too easy to grind right through.

I cleaned the spot welds off a lot of cells with a small diamond wheel on the Dremel. You can be very precise in your movements and it takes off a minimal amount of material while leaving a nice sheen on the surface on the cell for welding, compression or soldering. Takes no more than 15 to 20 seconds per cell.

You are my hero. Can you go more in to the details? I can imagine progress after thousand cells but, on starter level, I get~60/hour, I have Dimond wheels but no idea how it improves the process.

OK guys.. please let's go back to the original subject  or start a new thread about cell tab cleaning please
