Hello ES!

My friend gave me 36v 10ah LiFePo4 battery that has been sitting in room temprature for about 14+ months with only one charging at that time. When i tried the voltage before charging it showed 5,3v. Do you think this discharge has destoyed the battery? Is it safe to try and charge this battery?
It is similar to this one https://m.alibaba.com/product/60264720002/High-quality-36v-10ah-lifepo4-battery.html?spm=a2706.7843667.1998817009.40.EsJAhv

5.3v is probably just residual voltage from the BMS being shutdown to protect the pack.

You'll need to open it up and check the individual cell group voltages.

There are a lot of battery troubleshooting threads that show this process as others are walked thru it, if you read around.

36v is 10s groups of parallel cells probably 4p. Now you will see a bms with 10 or 11 wires. Theseis where you could find thr voltage of each cell groups voltage. Should be 2.8v to 3.6v and write down on paper like this.
1. 3.60v
2. 3.40v
3. 3.44v

10. Xxx volt.
Plus check the charger voltage.
Plus where do you live.?
