Charging Stromer 983 Wh battery with a Satiator?

Post by rvaneijk » Jan 01, 2018 5:58 am

Hi,

I am new to this forum. I read through some of the threads and am impressed with the quality of the discussions.

Question: has anyone tinkered with the Satiator and a Stromer 983 Wh battery?

I do not know whether or not the battery will allow charging current to flow in even without a CAN bus communication present in order to effectively "unlock" the charging port. I exchanged an email with Justin (Grin Technologies) about this.

I read through http://f3.webmart.de/f.cfm?id=3514850&t ... threadview and learned that the CAN bus is used by the OEM charger to read battery information, e.g. Device actual current, Device actual voltage, Actual battery Wh capacity, battery temperature, and relative battery capacity. I do not know if it charges ConstantCurrent/ConstantVolt.

Any feedback greatly appreciated, especially if you tinkered with the Stromer charger, the 983 battery and/or in combination with the Satiator.

Rob
