I had those same exact wheels on the back of my old CRX dragster! If those are the MT bias ply drag skinnys for tires that I think they are, you fill them up with ~140psi, and they roll with extremely low resistance, and only weigh about 5lbs for the entire wheel+tire assembly. Not cheap though, I think it was like $200 for each rim, and $155 for each tire.
 
I love it ! I watched the video of Fred and kid rock taking it for a ride/drive. Cool to see two grown men having a blast. Hybrid EV grin :D
 
I'm not crazy about it, but it's better than an ICE.

How rational is it to work up a sweat and only be adding 2% of the energy required to move the vehicle at reasonable speeds > 30mph?

LoL...how exactly... looks to be a novelty but little more IMO
