Schwinn chopper ebike buildup questions

I spoke with the guy..
He said the battery case is missing the Screws that hold it together..
I'll have to see if the local home depot has those types of screws..
Do you need any of the buttons on it? (e.g, on/off switch, fuse holder, "PC" connector, etc).. The reason I ask is, that I usually re-purpose those for other things, but if you NEED them, I'll leave them on.

Nah, you don't have to worry about it. Keep me in the loop if you get it, and you think the box is salvageable. I have pretty much everything but batteries, boxes, and bits from the shop. You got me watering from the mouth about finding a chrome rear fender off an OCC to use on the Spoiler for ease of maintenance. I even decided to look into getting a springer front end for the OCC as well. Mabye I can slow down the twitchy high speed manners and make a decent cruiser out of the Stripper.

CB Radio.. Check (already have one, just haven't hooked it up yet.. (also has a PA function on it and I have the PA speaker))

Police Scanner? LOL.. What for?!?

Radar Detector? I only have a top speed of 20 mph. Heh.

I already have a 12v 60AH (Lifepo4) Battery setup for my lights, directionals, radio, speakers, SUB (w/neon lights that blink to the music), brake lights, CB, 400w DC/AC inverter, etc.

Oh I also use that battery and the inverter (plus a 36v 2a brick charger) for an "emergency charging system" for my "driver batteries"!

Riding a bicycle with headphones on, in Florida, is illegal..
The radio takes my iPhone connection, USB Flash Drive and an SD Card!

P.S. Oh and with a name like Kim, If I were you, I wouldn't be calling anything I have "girly"...
(Something about a pot, a kettle, and the color black, comes to mind)

Kim, LMAO! Yeah they're kids bikes, but they're way strong. The short wheelbase, cheap parts, and lack of suspension kill the buzz for me. I'm lookin at adding Springer forks from Choppers.us to slow down the steering, and soften the blows. Trouble is, that's a $500 upgrade, on a 50 cent budget! The Rock Shox style does nothing for me. I like the CB, but I'm a ham so I'd have some VHF/UHF stuff under the lid. A weather radio, and an Eperb for remote spots. Mainly, I just want to finish one of these, so I can get some seat time in. Spent some time on the tele with Ice, and cleared up an issue with the harness. Today was video Monday, but the weather threatened snow, so I chickened out. This vid will be longer, but at a lower resolution, to try and stabilise the picture. Still chewing on the battery box bone. Someone mentioned tower standoffs but I can't find the links now. Cheers!

Kids bikes yes, if you only knew how thin the mild steel tubing was that these things are made from
i dont think you would be calling them 'strong' either...I would be worried about internal
rust too, the two i cut apart were rusting away from the inside, you can buy spray specifically
for the inside of bicycle frame tubes, i would suggest you get some if you don't want your frame rusting away.

I don't know about the "other" Schwinn OCC bikes, but the Electric ones I buy and use are quite durable... Just like any kind of steel, if you leave them outside (especially in warm, humid weather), they will rust rather quickly.
That's why I make sure to bring in my bike any time it's raining or warm/humid.. Learned that after the very first one I bought, I left outside for a month before I started working on it and it was rusted quite a bit. With steel framed (low-carbon) bicycles, keeping them away from inclement weather is always a good idea..
Plus, keeping it clean helps too!

Aluminum is even less durable, but doesn't rust, but it does "oxidize"..
The chrome is even less rust resistant than steel, but oh.. It's oh so "pretty"!

Update, just in time for Xmas, I donated the Runt to The Salvation Army's Childrens gift drive.

Some young person will be very happy with it. After going to the doctor for a regular drug renewal, I was diagnosed with a huge clot in my right leg. So, I had to spend three days in the hospital. The food was ok, it's the bed that killed me! After a week of daily walking, and nonstop Advil doses, I can finally say it's better. I was wel enough today to walk the bike down to the SA, and bring back some milk. Also today, Ice's harness for my Spoiler arrived! All I need now is barreries, boxes, and a few more parts from the Machinist, and I can ride! Thank you Ice, and Seasons Greetings to all!

If I had put that much effort into sound reenforcement into my bike, It would be self propelled via the noise level alone! That's gotta sound nice though. Now I'm trying to control a ginormous headache from the drugs they gave me. Had to go in today and ask them to take me of one to see if it helped stop the nonstop headache.

Happy New Year! Here's an update with bite in it. Today I made the final payment on some freshly cut 7075 alloy that will secure the Spoiler's rear axle, and mount the rear brake calipers on both bikes! And for less than what most shops would charge to draw up the sheetwork. Teaser pics of the newly complete Spoiler 4Sx5P harness, Thanks Ice! [and my Christmas present!] the 12MP Powershot 100HS. Finally, I can take a decent pic! I can't wait to mount it to a bike and let it run.

Yeah I gotta get one of those mounts before they are gone too. Is that left handed control a throttle as well, or just switches and a grip? The harness will give me 88V, and 25AH, with the 9C 2812, and the Lyen controller, I'm shooting for 20MPH for 20 miles, including 20% grades. Turnegy 6sx1p packs, twenty of them for the Spoiler, six for the Stripper which will net me 66V at 10AH, for short runs to the store. Looking forward to hearing about your new motor, and crossing my fingers for good luck Tom!

Ok, the parts from Cali are IN! A whole months pay, and an extra day in transit, but the Spoiler tourqe arms are COMPLETE. The brake plates will need trimming but I believe I can make them work. There's too much material arround the caliper mount holes. I specified a half inch, and that's exactly what I got! I meant to say 1/4 inch, so now I gotta cut em, bummer, but that's far better than I was expecting. If I had been more acurate, that wouldn't have happened. As it was, the two measurements I guesstimated on one plate, turned out to be perfect. So, a minor setback will be dealt with soon. Hearty thanks for cool hand Justin! Magudaman beat the local shop boys with weeks to spare, and even improved the end result with superior knowledge, and service. Now if I can just get the battery box to go the same way...



The clamps line up perfectly to the legs on the tourqg arms. They fit the frame tubes just right, with no rubber bushing, and that must be due to the curvature. I recently got a PM from a reader asking what combo I used to get the controller to work with the 9C hub, so I must add that NONE of this stuff has been hooked up yet. The batteries I bought, got sold to another member, because they would have been sitting too long, waiting for me to finish a bike. I guess that means I'm headed for trouble already, All I can say is, "When I find out the answer, I'll let ya know!"

That grip is just for Lights/Horn/Indicators. Someone made a mistake and I got sent 2 of them

Bad news on the motor front. I got a mate to order me up a 2000watt motor from superkids.

Wow price went up! Anyhow if you really want the motor really bad have someone in the USA order it and then for basically $65usd more have them ship it to Scotland. I'm might be down for that, I might talk to superkids see if they would drop the price a little if I ordered two. I've been waiting to get another one of these babies!

There you go Tom, where there's a will there's a way. I would aee about helping you also, but I already promised to pay the machine shop in Feb, for steel parts like the ones in the above pic. Sangsf, I'm not very interested in triking my OCC, but yeah, let us in on the skinny there dude! If I ever get a ground floor storage area, I will be interested for sure. Gotta carry it down and up a flight of stairs here. So weight is a issue, as well as size. I want to trike it, but I can't get away with it just yet. Gosh I like the way the XL trikes look, I wish I could get one with a springer front end, and rear swing arm.

Today I tried to save a buck and some time, by mod'ing the brake plates from Cali. I figured I could do one easy, and go from there later. Well it wasn't perfect, but it did go well enough that I kept cuttin. What I ended up with was a butt load of aluminum dust all over my vise, table, etc. Oh yeah, and two parts that fit! I was gonna ship em back out to the man for trimming, but I just couldn't stomach saying goodbye to them so soon. I just hope Magudaman can forgive me for hacking up his work. Yup, I took a new hacksaw blade to milled parts! Not bad for an hour and a half worth of work. Now it's time to see what the local tallent has for me in steel. I hope you get what you need Tom!

Time for another update to the Spoiler Saga. This may not quit meet the bike parts criteria, but it makes the work go faster on the PC, and therefore helps out. I found this keyboard while searching Google for a backlit keyboard. Sold at Newegg and under the $50. price mark, I couldn't resist, and now I couldn't be happier.

Not sure if i am who you were emailing with about the trike rear end? i sent a reply and never heard back
I had 10 rear kits made to fit the occ chopper so they wouldnt have to be cut and re welded they bolt right up
but china sent chrome axles so they need a bearing swap or non chrome axle I have a few I would part with if anyones
interested should fit the spoiler as well Its just the rear assembly with axle an sproket No Wheels

On another note i discovered the xtreme xb600 rear 600watt wheel fits the occ perfect i still need a controller
and lots of other parts for that project though thinking maybe a A2B front end need a shorter crank ? it sits low
