Genuine IRFB4110's are less than $2 each if you know what suppliers to buy from such as these for $1.35 each, minimum order of 38.

Biggest issue with these controllers I see is the lack of programming software being available. I'll gladly pay an extra $100 for a controller that I can program to my own needs, but if you are a bargain builder these seem like they could be a great deal. I'm sticking with the Xie Chang boards for now since we have so much info on them + software. I really want to know what ECU these controllers use. Might be able to use my googlefu to find the software. Anyone have confirmation on the manufacturer or the ECU number or even a board model number?

I have the 36fet and 18fet, not the 24. We only started running the 36 a few days ago, and it is untested on hills and on the highway for continuous WOT operation, so no "go for it" coming from me until it's proven. The 18 is running on a bike too, but not a high speed wind difficult to drive motor.

sorry for the noob question but I am used to Kelly controllers. 96v * 80a = almost 8,000w... why do they say it is a 2500w?

Johnm

How is the process for buying one of these 36 fets controller?

Is it easy ( Buy it now) and than Paypal or.. is it these Western union :roll: unsafe money transfer ?
Please could you describe the entire buying experience from them fo rthe 36 fets controller?

My last experience with allied express for the 36 fets controller was 5 hours of chat uring the night with a guy that have an american name but that is a chineese :roll: and that was really positive to sell me 3 unit and at the last minute just after i have asked if they are programmable he changed his mind and saif they are not availlable and will be in few month... :roll: :roll: :roll: :roll: :roll: :roll:

So please John... if your experience was positive please share it and explain how you proceeded to get them to your door :D

I want to know more about what processor they are using or if there is a model number or manufacturer on it to see if software can be tracked down.

4410 fets though... not sure of the difference between fets myself....

The 4410 will dissipate 2 time more heat!! :shock:

Here is what Camlight calculated for these controller:

Assuming 120C junction temp, the Rds-on came out to...
4110 = 7mOhm
4410 = 15mOhm

With heat being (amps * amps * resistance), that comes out to only a bit more than double the static Rds-on heating for the 4410. I couldn't get the same 4.8 times number you got.

But, with the 4110 switching slower than the 4410, the switching heating will be greater in the 4110. But not by much.

Looking at the thermal resistance numbers, the 4410 will run about 23% hotter for the same cooling setup vs. the 4110. I guess we could cancel out the 4110's slower switching with the 4410's higher thermal resistance and we're back to the 2.1 times static Rds-on heating for the 4410 (vs. the 4110)

thanks for that great link fo rthe 4110! that's 68$ shipped to Canada for 40 fets

the controller would be 187$ shipped and if buying tghe fet it's 255$ total cost shipped for the controller and fets

But i'll wait until John confirm that its, ok to use Escrow or West union.... :?

in french Escrow mean like scammer... :lol:

Unless they made a typo error, the 24 fets with the 4110 woul be a better choice than the 36fets with the 4410

The 4410 can do 4.8 less power than the 4110 like i said..

so the 36 fets 4410 is like an equivalent 9 fets controller 4110....

1. They take Paypal and require a fee for same.

2. Here is an example of the 36volt, 12 Fet paperwork:-

Just taking an educated guess here, but I reckon the Kelly people are using peak power and phase amps to create a kW figure.

I seem to remember Kelly figures quoting phase amps when I looked at their site. We tend to use battery amps here.

I reckon the 2.5kW is the max continuous it will take, or at least whet the supplier will give warranty for.

One other thing. They call it a 72V controller, so while the components are 100V rated, the max regen voltage is mid 80's.

Are these controllers fast/strong enough to drive RC motors like the 80100? 80V, 100A and 8000 RPM?

The current side, sure. You'd have to ask them about the commutation limit. We've had a 24pole motor in a 19.5" wheel up to over 70mph no load and 60mph+ down a slight grade with no commutation issues if that tells you anything. Ask Leo yourself.

2500w is the continuous operation rating. Basically all motors and controllers are rated by continuous operation mode, not burst mode.
