Hey bro I was joking about the battery thing and I have been looking for a job for almost 2 years. I've had a total of 3 interviews in that whole time span. I live in San Bernardino, CA which has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country. And before you do something dumb like ask why I don't relocate to find a better job, it kind of takes money to do that as well. Also until recently I've always held a job, ever since I was in high school and that was 17 yrs ago. I'll let you do the math and figure out how old I am. Furthermore from what I've read on this board I'm not the only one with employment issues right now so not only have you insulted me but numerous others on this board. I worked my ass off for those 17 yrs and I feel that I earned my unemployment insurance. I could be one of those losers that gets a job just long enough to qualify for unemployment and then gets themselves fired so they can collect it. Hell why don't I just go knock up some random slut and hang around to reap the welfare rewards.<Insert some fat 350 lb guy joke here. Also no where in my post does it mention anything about a free battery. This is why you should read a post in it's entirety as opposed to just skimming through it. Let me guess, am I being shit on by a republican? As to the comment about me being a lazy ass, noting the frequency with which I am constantly changing, upgrading, and downgrading my bike which requires a lot of mechanical work and test riding, I would have to say that I am anything but lazy. I'm guessing you're not a very intuitive person who reads between the lines. Either that or you're angry at the world with some serious mommy issues. I come to this board because it is one of the few positive things in my life and you just ruined that for me you dick. Anybody else feel like dumping on me, go ahead but be prepared for my response. I have a pretty large vocabulary and the uncanny ability to string words together in such a way as to make you feel even lower than this jackass. However if you want to back me up the more the merrier.

Don't worry about John in CR. Him and some of the other gurus here sometimes can make a rude remark. Usually because of a poor attempt to a joke or another trigger. Don't let it get to you. Just keep looking a the positive things, like in real life. And, keep reading his posts, because you can learn a lot from him (when he does not make these remarks). I know I did!

Well I'm hoping after my "little" paragraph there, he gets the point that one's mouth gets a little dirtier each time they stick their foot in it. His post was totally uncalled for and extremely rude. I am not content with being unemployed, there has just been little I can do about it up to this point. I was already having a shitty day because of my little frog battery blowing up due to a crossed connection. Luckily nothing else was damaged. Speaking of free batteries, I was going to see if anyone wanted the remains of the little frog for spare parts or the charger that came with it seeing as how I have no use for it now.

What's rude, no I take that back, what's unconscionable are those who think it's okay when they're an able bodied person to have those who do work pay their way. You feel that you "earned" the right to a 2 year vacation at everyone else's expense. Do you have any idea how ridiculous that is?

3 interviews in 2 years???? It didn't dawn on you in the first week, or at least the first month that it's time to look for something different, learn new skills, something...anything? Someone actually willing to work can always find a job, and there's plenty of government sponsored schooling. Then there's the internet where you can learn about almost anything.

Put me anywhere in the developed world and I'll find a job in days, not months or years, whether or not I even know the local language. Since you're not disabled or retirement age I've got zero sympathy, because there's plenty of work for anyone willing to actually work.

Well pal, now that the gravy train is over you're forced to into action like you should have done on your own 2 years ago, or are you gonna freeload off a family member or friend and continue being a parasite? Nice try attempting to drag politics into it, because it's a matter of simple math and basic human morality. What do you think happens when too many people do what you have done? Society falls apart that's what. Since everyone can't do it, what exactly makes you think that you're better than everyone else and they should work to support you?

Yes actually it did that's why I'm going to school. Also you keep misinterpreting the context of my posts. I didn't want to be on vacation for 2 years, I'd much rather be working. Do you have any idea about how freaking bored I am. I feel that I've earned my unemployment and the right to collect it as I was forced to in order to make some kind of income while in the process of finding employment. I'm sorry if I kind of blew my top but I would've appreciated it if you had posed your response in more of a question format as opposed to an insulting statement. Also I am not afraid of work. My first job lasted 10.5 years. And yes it was food service but four and a half of those years were as management. My second job was almost management. My third job was not really worth mentioning. My last job was also lower management at a home depot. Are you seeing a trend here. Hard workers are the ones that make it into management not lazy workers. Okay well I did what I said people shouldn't do when you read a post. I skimmed John's last reply. Now that I've read it more thoroughly, I have a couple more responses. You mentioned the internet as a learning tool. I agree with you wholeheartedly. Again you should think about what you're typing when you reply. I didn't join this board not to learn anything. I have learned a ton of valuable information in the year or so I've been logging in here. Trust me I'm greatly saddened by the state of my country. The main problem being that all we seem to do is talk about solutions to our problems. Not enough people are taking action to solve the problems and the few that do are constantly being shot down by naysayers and negativity. Our country is turning into a giant distribution warehouse for the rest of the world's products. We no longer produce much of anything and the little we do "produce" gets outsourced to foreign countries to be manufactured by cheap labor. Not to mention the fact that big corporations are now using fear tactics to keep employees in line by threatening them with unemployment. All the rights the common worker fought so hard for over the many decades are being completely destroyed. Corporations don't care about turnover anymore, they now have their pick of such a large surplus of possible employees so why should they worry. We're going to end up like all those countries with cheap labor if we keep going in the direction we're heading in. Soon enough we'll be the one's manufacturing the rest of the world's merchandise and getting paid minimum wage for all our hard work. Not only that they'll use us to sell it too. Do you have any idea about how ashamed I've felt of myself for being on unemployment for so long? Do you think I enjoy being labeled as a freeloader? I used to be in your shoes talking about people in my current situation. Either I'll break the wall or the wall will break me but I'll be damned if I give up before either one of these happens. Anybody else having employment issues feel free to chime in.

Well back to the bike. I took the now damaged and dead little frog off the bike. I took apart the battery mount for spare parts. I'm thinking of using the ignition with my new sla when it arrives. The ignition's already wired so all I have to do is splice it onto the power output on the battery. I was also thinking of using my other motor in a mid-mount setup. The metal mounting plate from the little frog mount looks like it might come in handy for a mid-mount. The motor fits snugly into it and I believe one of my junk bikes may have a small enough frame to clamp the part that usually goes on the seat-post to it. I'm thinking of mounting it at the upper triangle of the frame near the handle bars, running a chain from the motor to the smaller chain-ring, and using the bigger chain-ring in conjunction with the rear gears. I'm probably going to hack off the crank arms and just attach some kind of foot pegs. I might go with a 24" rear wheel if I can find a cheap one like at a thrift shop or something.

I apologize if I came on too strong, but we both know you've procrastinated a ton of time away. Time doesn't just fly, it accelerates. At least now you're forced back in the game, and have no choice but wake up from the near coma caused by that government check. If I can help shake you awake and gain some perspective with straight talk, that's a good thing.

PS- Just let go of the idea that you earned it, because that's just BS, and that attitude will in no way lead to success or happiness. That system is bankrupt, because it was extended way past what was agreed when the incoming payments were made, so even if you did look at it as your money paid into a fund, you were allowed to go way past what was proper. If anything you should feel that you owe, so go do some volunteer work to help kids, since they're the ones who will have to work to pay back the money the government borrowed on your behalf. It's really the kind of thing you should have had to do for that check all along. No able bodied and minded person should ever get money for doing nothing, because it can only result in not enough money available to take care of those truly in need. I'm not saying you weren't truly in need at first, but money for nothing leads to low self esteem and loads of other problems.

Cool, I hope you land on your feet. You should really consider relocating though. If you live where unemployment is highest, you've gotta accept that it's unlikely to change any time soon. A fresh start somewhere new can be scary, but it's fun and invigorating once you take the leap. Pick a place that's growing and prospering and you increase your prospects dramatically.

New update on bike. I received my new sla today. I didn't specify that I needed a wire harness with separate charge and output connections. I had to dismantle my 24V sla to use it's harness and combine it with the new harness to get both of the connections I needed; the 24V is kind of shot so it's no big loss. Apparently I did it right because the new battery is charging. Next of course will be the test ride tomorrow. I had to replace the bearings in my bottom bracket because of a build up of road grit. The bike has the cup style bottom bracket. The guy at the bike shop said I would have to special order a sealed bottom bracket because I'd need a longer than normal one. All I could afford were the bearings for now. Also I was checking out the dealers for e-bikekit.com and there's one about 2 miles from my house. This is just another example of how overrated Google is. I've been hunting all over the net trying to find somewhere close to me that worked with EV, Google being my main search tool. A little update. I'm having a power issue. I think the controller and motor are too high Amp for the 36V 12A sla. The controller is 25A and the motor is 20A. The motor is 24V 250W over volt to 36V. The controller is a 36V controller. I couldn't use my 24V controller because it is a newer model Currie controller that won't allow higher than 24V to be applied. It's a brand new sla and I'm only getting maybe 6 miles out of it and that's with moderate pedaling, coasting downhill, and not giving it full throttle. When I duct taped the sla's together, I used heat shielded metallic duct tape. The tape is touching the connectors and I was wondering if this could be causing a problem? I didn't solder the connectors because I wanted to be able to easily reuse the wiring harness when I have to replace these batteries in the future. However I made sure that I taped everything securely and everything's still in place after a few rides. The wire harness is pretty short so I don't have a bunch of excess wire wasting power. I'm using a 36V 1.6A charger I bought from TNCscooters.com. The funny thing is when I plug the battery into the charger, before the charger is plugged into the wall, the green indicator light on the charger turns on and then it goes to red when I plug it into the wall. None of my other chargers do this. The top speed on the 24V motor at 36V is like 30mph as opposed to the stock 18mph with a 16 tooth freewheel. I can't out-pedal the motor anymore. I figured at only 250W I would get better range out of the battery. The sla's are rhino 12V 12A no memory agm I believe. Any ideas would be helpful.
