advice on incompatible motor and hall connectors

Hey all, I have incompatible connectors between my motor and controller and I'm trying to figure out what I should do.
Should I get adaptors (if they exist?), or should I replace one side with the same connectors? My father-in-law is an electrician so I'm guessing he could help me with this.

I have a Crystalyte t100 motor and Grinfineon C7240-GR controller.

Motor phase wires:
The motor has 3 x XT150 connectors
The controller has anderson powerpole connectors

Hall Sensor:
The motor has a all sensor plug: Mini XLR 5 pin
The controller has a JST-SM connector 5 pin

Controller: http://www.ebikes.ca/documents/Grinfineon_V2.1.pdf
Motor: http://www.evwarehouse.com.au/index.php/hub-motors/tc-100.html

Here are a couple things that might help you decide which connectors to keep or it might confuse your choice even more :) :

  • an adapter would be hard to find

  • an adapter can be made but will require both connects which would cost more

  • the phase connectors on the motor appear to be more weather proof an handle more current although I'm sure they take up more space

If it were me, I'd keep the XT150 connectors for the phase wires and use the JST-SM connector for the hall sensors

it really comes down to what connectors suit your application best (conditions, performance, riding style, future upgrades etc...)

FWIW, http://ebikes.ca has JST (and anderson) connector packs, if that makes it easier.

They used to sell some Crystalyte stuff with those round 5-pin-DIN types, so maybe they have the matching one laying around for sale, too?

The XTs can be had from various places, too.

BTW, when you do wire them up, you'll want to test it out before permanently setting up the connectors, because you probably can't just connect color to color for it to work.

great thanks for all the advice everyone, i'll think this over a bit and do some more research

Matching the motor would be nice, that's a good setup. Can you get the matching connectors from them?

If not, matching what is on your controller is easiest, since Grin does sell those all the time.
