Hi guys,

So this this is the power plug connector that came on my Bafang BBS02 kit: https://imgur.com/a/kMPmE

I thought it was a deans connector but when i saw one in the shop, it was way too small.

So i bought this: https://www.jaycar.com.au/automotive-2-way-plug-socket-250-series-2-way/p/PP2062

Which is the right size and shape, except the +ve pin is on the wrong side!

I noticed that the female plug is literally identical except for the +ve pin orientation, however the spec page says its only rated for 15A.

Is it a bad idea if i remove the pins from the existing power plug and put these 2 on even though the power rating is lower? The plastic appears to be more translucent/thinner than the one that came on the BBS02.

What is and where can i buy the correct connector?

Thanks!

Eager new ebike user.

Yeah, the smaller pins will get hotter. Whether or not they get hot enough to melt the plastic in the connector housings is determined by how many amps your system is drawing, and how often you do that.

A small-motor on a mid drive likes to be spun fast, so you need to shift the gears and keep the RPMs up. Doing that will lower the continuous and peak amps on average. If the smaller connector gets too hot in spite of your best efforts to be in the right gear, then you simply need a large connector. I recommend the XT90, if you decide to go in that direction...

That plug should work fine on a BBS02.

To test you could try running it hard up a hill for a few minutes then stop and check for heating. Over time, those type tend to loosen up and develop resistance. If you ever find the motor cutting off under load, I'd check there first.
