Because information is scarse on the electrical behaviour of the Supernova M99 mini pure 45 (SKU/Art.: R-M99MINI-E-MBLK; EAN: 4260224790682), I did some electrical measurements on this head light.

I used a Picotest P9611A to supply power low on noise and ripple, and read back the current.

Startup voltage
Hard start: 9.46~9.74V
Sometimes changes current from 1mA to 212mA within 10mV increase. At 22ºC 44% RH, I measured 9.47 volts before the light turned on. From 1 mA to 212 mA of current flow with only 10 mV increase. After warming up the LED light for a few minutes, I repeated
the startup voltage test. A few minutes pre-heated M99 mini pure 45 started at 9.46 volts.

Note: Below 3.73~3.83 volts < 1mA of current is flowing, at 3.74~3.84 volts 1mA flows, current stays at 1mA until it start lighting up hard.

Randomly soft start at 8.14~8.21 volts
This hard starting behaviour with 10mV is not consistent. Hours later (after the internal caps should have been completely discharged) the M99 mini pure 45 starts softly around 8.21 volts with a brittle light at 5mA. A longer pre-heated M99 mini where the casing measures 44ºC starts at 8.14 volts

Note#1: Below 3.70 volts < 1mA of current is flowing, and hard-start will most often happen when increasing voltage again.

Note#2: When voltage stays above 3.70 volts, current stays flowing at 2mA and soft-start will happen on voltage increase: 3mA@3.95V, 4mA@5.35V, 5mA@8.21V.

Current/voltage/temperature relation @ 600mA
At 22ºC and 0 m/s wind speed, initially a 600 mA current flow occurs at 10.17 volts. As temperature increases, current flow increases at the same supply voltage (of 10.17V). To keep the current at 600mA requires voltage to be reduced to 10.03V to compensate for internal LED temperature increase. The black casing then measures 51ºC.

Brightness in dark
Already at 69mA times 9.01volts (0.62 watts) a white object at ± 25 meters is clearly illuminated in the dark.

Suggestion to increase lifetime
When powering this light from any source (like a battery pack) that might come above 10.0 volts, use a (miniature) LED driver that limits current to somewhere near design (7.2 watts ÷ 12 volts =) 0.60 amps. For example the Mean Well LDD-600HW or LDD-700HW are worth a look.
