NTS Works will be showing off their new Fat Free e-bike in front of Cafe Rio in Aptos, CA on Sunday July 13, 2014 from 2:00 P.M. to 5:30 P.M. Demo rides will be available. Readers living in and near Santa Cruz, CA are welcome to stop by and have a look-see-ride.

The bike is designed to be a lightweight city e-bike with cargo capability when paired with the optional rack and baskets. It's a pedalec that appears to use a Bafang crank-drive and a NuVinci hub in the rear wheel. Price is currently $2600.

The NTS Works battery deserves special mention. It's a unique design that consists of an aluminum case with compression contacts for the cells. The concept allows for easy cell servicing and the possibility of disassembly into battery case and raw cells for separate shipping to avoid onerous assembled lithium battery shipping regulations.

really cool !!.. is that the same Neal as Zero ?

I like the battery packs.. a lot. 8)

I like the battery pack design, too, although the Rosenberger connectors are too proprietary and pricey for my taste. If NTS Works succeeds as a going concern, and the battery pack design using compression contact to the cells is shown to be reliable long-term, I see their potential to enter the business of producing battery assembly chassis of varying voltages and capacities, and BMS's with programmable specs (within the capability of its hardware), for the e-bike business, perhaps even selling just the assembly or licensing the design to others, freeing assemblers to source their own 18650 cells.

Yes, he is the same Neal who started Zero.
