wiring RC - Cycle Analyst [ :) fixed]

Hi,

I can't seem to get this right on my first try - can anyone shed any light onto why this is not working?

Esesntially I have doubled the reds and blacks to the same bits on the board, and just changed the throttle cable to PWM.

When I pull the throttle, I get a nice display-dimming effect. Not much speed though:)

The 5V pin on the board measures 5V, so I know the power is getting to the throttle, and the CC HV160 arms, which means it can see a throttle is there and is at zero.

Throttle closed measures 4V between ground and signal, Throttle open measures 4.8V between ground and signal. Does that sound right?

Sorry Tom - I have absolutely no experience with either CA or magura.... but the magura is a pot (innit?) so I'd expect it's output to vary between 5V and 0V if the pot is wired in the "conventional" way. Is it a 3 or 2 wire connection to the pot? The pictures suggest 3 wire - I can't see what the black wire is connected to, should it (or should it not) be ground?

I've been playing with the software settings and it seems to work (ie. move the wheel).

Getting some funky error beeps from the Castle Creations HV160 though.

If my shunt is 100A 75mv, does that make my mOhm 0.75?

Yep - it's in R/C mode.

It turned on, but went into the oscillation on/off for a while and then stopped.

Now it won't move - I'm sure it's not broken, but a matter of nailing some settings....hmmmmmm

Do you have an RC servo you can use to test it? I usually use a servo to test before plugging in the ESC, they are a lot cheaper if things go wrong.

I checked the wiring from a few forum posts and my assumptions were wrong. Everything is now plumbed in correctly.

I have made a few measurements as it occasionally jumps into life (when I short something on the board when measuring voltages) but not on the throttle yet. Would you mind a cursory glance at these readings?


5v = 4.94v

4.03v is float between the 5v and the throttle measured from the points in the board.

0.89v is between ground and wiper when throttle in stop position.

4.93 between ground and wiper when throttle fully pulled back.

(4.04v throttle range)

My Aux thresh is set to 0.87, is this correct? All other settings follow the posts from the RC CA thread.

It took a little while for me to get it to work too, and I thought it broke my ESC, but eventually I figured out how to make the beta version of the ebikes RC CA work with my Castle Creations Phoenix HV ESC. It didn't break it but apparently the RC CA sent signals to the ESC that caused it to flash error codes, so I had to do a full reset of the ESC using the CC management software to clear the errors.

Warren, you are the man. The reset got everything working and I've been able to fiddle with it a bit, so thanks so much. I had no idea anything was wrong as it seemed to arm and there were no indications on the software.

Out for a ride later, hope it's worth the hassle!
