All this Time "Backordered," HobbyKing Drops the 80100s?

Postby Dauntless » Tue May 15, 2012 7:09 pm

About the beginning of the year I ordered 4 each of the kv130 and the kv180 version. I've watched the "Backorder" number grow as I periodically checked how they were doing. (And they weren't doing well at all over there.) So I checked today, neither motor will come up. Running a search I found a comment someone posted: "I have received a turnigy C80100-130. I am wondering why this motor is not in the turnigy list. . . ." That's all I can see, the page of it also won't open.

Is this a company that will simply take the money and run? (Over $1,000.)

hmnn,

Looks like they updated their website.....but the 80-100's are no longer on the list. I would definatly inquire. if you had a back order unfilled for so long I would be very concerend. (i never let anyone charge me for something that is not on the shelf for reasonable delivery) they should give you a full re-fund. I would offended at an offer for "credit" (but would take an upgraded motor for the same price as the original 8) )

Example: Grizzly tools, I have some odd gears ordered for metric treading they don't stock in the states, they will not charge the card # I gave them untill they have the part picked & in the shipping que. just got a another note by mail today that they still don't have the parts in hand & inquired if i still want them, been 6 weeks since i orderd)

The 1st order I placed with leaders hobbys was a back order.....they cheerfully refunded my money when I explained my disapointment. ( I also politly explained that if they didn't have the transaction re-funded in 2 days, I would take action thru paypal wich still had plenty of time left for a claim)

You can get these motors from Sky hobbies out of sinapore. (for a higher price) Leaders has been back ordered for 2 months now on these also. doesn't look good.
Hope it all works out for you.

I just wish it was someone as reputable as Grizzly. I have used their support centre to enquire, it says they're waitinhg for someone to decide to look at it. It just don't seem promising. I paid with PayPal, probably will have to see if they will touch the matter.

Under the doctrine of 'A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush,' you can guess what I'll say is better. But I'd hate to see it disappear before I even got the chance to play with it. The Support Centre still just says it's awaiting a help operator. How long will THAT take?

I'd hate to see them turn around and try to push something like the 12070 off on me. I hear that destroys what it comes in contact with. Ach. Doggone expensive to be so destructive.

Of course there are ! ... just not at such a good price !

Most of these guys are buying these $100 motors just for the hardware components, to tear down and rebuild/rewind to suit their own requirements..
..Its harder to justify that on a $400 or $600 motor !

E-racer - from a different thread wrote:I posted where to get motors at anytime earlier in this thread. http://skyhobby.en.alibaba.com/product/476092519-212631801/ATN_series_C80100_08_Outrunner_Brushless_electric_motors_for_RC_toys.html

I recently recieved an 80-100 from this link.

This seller "Million Power" is actually the same as Leader Hobby- see the bottom of this page: http://www.leaderhobby.com/aboutus.asp Packages I have received from Leader before say they are shipped from Million Power.

I ordered 2 130KV C80100s from them on April 10th (on backorder, and special price, $101). I inquired about them yesterday- they replied that they were shipped on May 15.

By all accounts this is the same motor that Hobbyking has sold in the past.

I'm still curious about this motor's disappearance from eBay- there used to be several consistent listings at relatively high prices.

I just received an EMail that STARTS with "Your request has been deemed solved." Oh thou deems, deems thou? They remark about "Store Credit," but no refund, so no, it's not solved. I have responded that they'll either send me the motors or a refund.

They are referring to a "Factory problem in China." Since they are assumed to all come from the same factory, one would expect them to disappear everywhere when there's a problem. They are probably drop shipped from the factory, which is why they'd all have the 'Million Power' reference but be different sellers. I've been holding off on SkyHobby because I already had this big investment in HobbyKing. There's been remarks of people receiving SkyHobby motors in the time since I made my orders, so I assume they'll still have them available. So why don't THEY have a "Factory problem?" Someone remarked of HobbyKing waiting until they have some huge number of backorders then ordering all at once. If they've removed it from the site, I guess that won't work, right? For that they save a few bucks. I'd say it's worth it to pay the $4 more at SkyHobby. (But $20 more at Leaders?) I HOPE the SkyHobby motor showing a smaller shaft diameter is a misprint. They use the same pic and the same specs except that one.

This motor shows up on Alibaba express also- I believe it's the "old style" 80100- the can is pressed onto the end cap instead of held with screws, and there is no skirt bearing.

Again, Skyhobby on Alibaba and Leader hobby ship from the same company- Million power, so I'm not sure there's any reason that you would get a motor faster from either one- Does Alibaba have some sort of buyer feedback system like eBay? That might provide an incentive for them to ship Alibaba orders out faster... The price on Leader occasionally goes on special and is dropped to around $100.

The photos and specs on Skyhobby show a 12mm shaft... I have seen several ads for an "80100" motor that have photos and specs from a 6374 or whatever else though. Not sure what you'd receive if you sent money for one of those.

I hope it's not too hard to get your money back from Hobbyking- good luck.

I have received motors from sky hobby. The shaft is 12mm like normal. The rep said they could easily supply 5000 units a month. I suspect the reason HK dropped the is to sell the higher end scorpion motors.

SkyHobby 80100 motors arrived about 72 hours after I made PayPal payment. So maybe they pull the requisition at midnight their time and went to work minutes after I sent it. Or. . . ?

Dang, suddenly it seems there's nothing to protest anymore. alright, women of Femen, you can get dressed now. (Can you believe I found a worksafe picture of them?)

I wonder what else they have I might want? (Quickly.)
