My next proyect is to mount a GNG motor on my Kona Entourage
This will be my first central motor assemble as i have "only" used 9c motors.
I have been reading all the info i could find here about this motor, freewheels and modifications... so its time to get started.
This proyect will be done slowly as i dont have to much spare time this year... but maybe that way i can think and choose each part better.

I use my 9c bike for conmuting but now i have started doing DH and thats why i start this new proyect (... and that i love doing new proyects with new challenges :D )

They bicycle i bought for DH as i told you before is a Kona Entourage. I bought it with a very good discount new because it was from 2012.

My first problem was trying to now if i could fit this motor on my bike with out being the motor to low...
But Muapeia and LightningRods gave me a very good solution:

This is a good example frames ,I think the engine can stay on top of the framework and adapt it rest on the bottom as pictured

I've been working on a drawing for you and it looks like Antonio was doing the same thing.
We both seem to agree on the layout. It's best to move the jackshaft inside the frame triangle.

Thank you very much for the help and pictures

Now i am trying to choose a good freewheel... The Cyclone one seems to be a good choice but im not totally sure

In my conmuting bike i use 20s 5000mha x2 45A with the 9c but i dont realy no what i need for my DH bike :?

24S 100v is a combination this motor loves. And you wont need any thick Cables, despite +3kw.

The limit of the spare controler i have is supposedly 100v but a friend burnt one and some people here also... so maybe my limit would be 20s and this way i can use the same lipo packs i use on my other bike :)... another thing i have to consider is using a speedict i already have and not use. But then i need to buy new 6s lipo pack to do 18s because that is the max i can use with speedict not doing inventions

I think i read your threat but i cant remember how many amps are you using?? my controler has 15-30-45

Another thing i would like to ask to european people is about the motor and customs? cause i im nearly sure they are going to kill me with tax  MP are welcome if needed

Thank you for your time.

I picked up my GNG kit this morning. Only took a week to arrive. This was delivered to the UK, but the tax wasn't to bad...

I bought the motor from GNG electrict. I am very very happy with this seller, could not be better.
Very good comunication and perfect transaction. The shipping was very fast and everything came very well packed.
It was a pleasure to make business with Jon.

Despite some of the kit's shortcomings, I would definitely agree. Gng does have very good service and they're very punctual and personable during communications. Jon also seems to have eyes on these forums, or gets a lot of feedback about people's upgrades...even though some of the kit parts are cheap, you can tell he has been modifying to meet the requests of the masses.

warning! this will NOT work. the rear dampers expansion chamber will hit the motor when compressed. try it out.
take a look at my kona mid drive thread: http://www.endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=55215
i tried several options. you have to remove the spring from the damper and then you can compress it more easy and you'll see where it moves.

on the other hand: putting it below the bb will not work as well, as the kona entourage is known for very low ground clearance. people riding it hard, and jumping had the crank's gear hit the ground.

I dont now if i am understanding you good... but the rear dampers expansion chamber cant hit the motor block because it is below the frame. If your are talking about the jackshaf, that part of the motor is going to be in the frame but more in the front than in that picture. The big plate is going to be in the left side not in the middle so the expasion chamber has space to work.

I have to test if the motor block by it self hits the ground with big compresions...

Sorry for my bad english... tecnical words makes it hard for me.

Ah OK. My mistake. Then it's fine. If it's just the camshaft then is good :)
Better to be safe then sorry.

Thank you any way

I think my kona is a brother of yours.
I love the one you have in your picture. I think i am going to do something similar when i finish this new proyect.
