Hi,

Is the BBS02 48 500w the same unit as BBS02 48v 750w? Many vendors are selling the BBS02 48v at either 500w or 750w were the latter often is 40-50 USD more expensive. My question ia therefore if the only difference is programming, or is any of the hardware different between the two?

Thanks,

Same motor, different controller but you can swap the controllers over. For example, my 48v500w controller died and I put a 48v750w controller on it no probs.

However, some vendors are selling 48v750w units programmed to 18 amps and marketing them as 500w units (makes sense to me - only have to stock one model). True 500w units cannot have their amps programmed above 18 amps.

Yes, what amigafan said. I did the same thing several years ago. But in the meantime Bafang physically changed the BBS02 case and the controller from a new BBS02 will not fit on an older BBS02 or vice-versa.

The original ones are commonly referred to as BBS02A and the newer ones as BBS02B.

Ok, and this goes for BBS02B aswell, different controllers for the 500w and the 750w version? Guess there's no way of knowing beforehand if a vendor's BBS02 500w is 18 amp controller or de-tuned 25 amp controller?
