Comprehensive Listing of Motor Options

Postby dozentrio » Fri Apr 16, 2010 1:16 pm

What I said, was added to the top post, but I wasn't too clear,

Fusin, a gear type hubmotor. Mabye a sub category just for the planetary gear motors?

Ezee

(Non hub)
Stokemonkey
Ecospeed

Now would we be listing manufacturers or resellers? Cause Magic Pie is made by Golden Motors, and Ebikekit uses Nine Continents. There are a few other re branded ones to.

Manufacturers are now bolded and resellers or individual products are listed underneath.

Hopefully as people post, the list will become refined and the details will fix themselves. I know it's not perfect right now, so post your corrections/additions

If you want to add prices and where you can buy them:

hub motors
e-bikekit.com - 36v (500-750w / 20MPH) / 48v (up to 1000w / 24MPH) -$230
hightekbikes.com - aotema 750W (1200W max) + controller + battery bag + throttle - 319$
arizonaebikes.com - goldenmotor 1000W + controller + throttle - $315 (I wish I could find a US dealer that carries the Magic Pie for comparison)

It's what I was planning on doing, but your list is already more comprehensive.

Ezee, BMC and cute (ananda) move to geared hub. Bionx to hub (should be retitled to direct drive hub).

Ezee also offers complete ebikes.

also for complete bikes:
izip
optibike (though silly expensive)
scwhinn
panasonic eneloop

I would clarify the non-hub categories as non-hub kits vs bare motors - very different things. Possible category further for kits that drive the gears - important consideration for many.

Ezee, 9 continent, stokemonkey, and crystalyte are sold by ebikes-ca.com

Bafang , sold by Holmes Hobby, is a gearmotor.

Once this thread matures, it should be moved to the reference section. Just the header post if possible.

Now that you have added complete bikes.

A2B Metro

I think they have another model, but that is the one that caught my eye.

I think it's a good idea for us to put any information, so long as it isn't confusing or gets too difficult to sift through. Too cluttered is bad. I know there's already some issues with how it's organized, but I hope at least it'll give people searching a good starting point.

Is this really all there is out there for electric bikes? Surely there must be more full bikes that aren't on this list yet... rack your brains, we must build a repository of knowledge!
