I saw your X-rays, lucky it's no broken bones in the hand. My guess is that you happily ride next month. Sorry that you have to spend the best of the summer with a plastered arm.

Damn, that's a nasty break dude! :(
icecube57 wrote:I HAVE TO GO SEE SEE AN ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON THIS WEEK TO SET IT AND SEE IF IT REQUIRSES PLATES OR ANYTHING. 2-3 MONTHS IN A CAST IS IN MY FUTURE.

Yep, that's going to be in a cast for a while and you'll definitely need some orthopedic work, a few pins at the least. You might get away with a single pin in the ulna but the radius will require a few if not a small plate and screws. I'm not a expert in the area other than having a history of 3 broken wrists but unfortunately I don't think that wrist will ever be the same again :(
If it makes you feel any better, once the pain goes away you'll still be able to ride slowly with the cast on - I did it (very akwardly mind you) with 2 casts on so you can do it with one :P

Looks like you also broke your capslock key

Hey IC57
Very sorry about your wrist. Can you COBRA the insurance from your previous job? Usually you have 60 days to do that from when you leave. Get well soon!

That is really good news because I too think you will need plates and screws to immobilize those fractures. Good luck to you!

oh, man! i'm so sorry to hear about this! i hit a bump like that on a trail when i wasn't paying attention, my foot slipped off the (comfort bike) pedal, jammed the road, reared the back seat, and twisted the handlebars, but before i spilled i was able to jam the handlebars forward and regain control. otherwise i would have been a giant road rash.

are you scraped up too? ouch, ouch, ouch, that sucks!

take it easy, and get well soon!

Ouch!

I've broken both bones in both wrists twice so I know your pain for sure! Once, I was standing on a skateboard talking to a girl and another girl came up behind me and kicked my skateboard. I fell straight down and broke my arm. It sucked!

I always used my broken bones down time to catch up on learning stuff.

Anyway, get well soon!

hey guys.. here is an update. Went to see the surgeon today... they tried a non surgery route which involved hanging my hanging my hand from chinese finger traps and putting a 10lb weight on my elbow to pull the bone out the joint. The doctor then smashed my wrist into new half cast splint the splint to flatten my wrist and straighten the bone... Im so glad i took 2 oxycotin before going there... I was high as a kite but man after the visit i was in so much pain. I took the meds about 1:15 my appointment was around 2:30 I didnt leave until 4:30-5. So the meds were well on their way to wearing off. Every bunp in the road on the way home was torture. My arm was stable until they pulled it out of the joint.. the best way I can describe is a broken wooden match head that someone struck too hard and they straighten it back out but its a loose fit. Even tho my arm is in a half cast the wrist feels loose like the skin is the only thing holding it on. You can feel the bones scraping and touching ..creepy feeling. The will operate on my arm next wed thet will put a plate and pins on the bone and up to 3 different casts.

I want to thank those that bought my items. Please bear with me while I get them shipped . You will get photos and detailed packing info. The 4th is coming up also so bear with me.

Im not the one to beg.. I do have my ego and self pride but selling my item covers part of my medical bills / co pay and salary for less than a month. If you have anything to spare I would appreciate it and my wife does also. Apparently there is an out of pocket facility fee I gotta cough up for the op that insurance doesnt pay for. Paypal Khristopher2000inbox@hotmail.com

Id llike to thank Cory for his contribution. Danny for scoopin up 90% of my items and Oatnet for getting the Lumenator

Im trying to go back to work asap if i can ween myself off of these narcotics... taking 1 pill im drowsy 2 pills Im knocked for 2-3 hours. Im driving 8 hrs a day at work for 1800 Flowers and get paid per delivery... last thing i need is a car wreck. Im taking high doses of Ibuprofen about 800-1200mg with a mixture of asprin about 1000mg which has me kinda amped but im doing alot more than i should and I really feel it at night and in the morning... Im saving the narcs for night time.

My mom just got both of her knees replaced and she said that getting hooked on the pain killers and getting back off of them was worse than the actual pain in her knees. She's a tough lady too. I've been busted up alot and had a few kidney stones and anymore, I won't even take pills. I started taking a bunch of ibuprofen for a wrecked knee a few years ago and it made my blood pressure go crazy and it hasn't been right since so be careful with all of that stuff. I know your arm hurts like all hell but I'd personally rather feel my arm hanging from a scrap of skin that feel the pill dt's ever again. I've definitely felt both and it's an easy call in my book. It sounds like you have a smart doctor as far as getting you fixed up goes. I'd try some herbs (good ones) for the pain, to help you sleep, to help you stomach the pills, and also to help ween you off of them. It's not everyone's cup of tea but when I get an MRI, a crowd of doctors usually gathers around the screen like it's a freak show and I don't take anything for pain that doesn't grow out of the ground.

As far as financial assistance goes, I'd love to help more but extra cash is a cruel joke to me right now. I'm unemployed, just moved to a new town, and trying to get a new business going with a tiny budget on a credit card......
As a person who has faced quite a few medical bills I could never afford, I can offer some advice though. Continue to live your life and do whatever you can to bite those bills off in chunks. As long as you pay something, they have to work with you. They'll tell you different sometimes but if you send them a check, even if it's for $25 when you owe them $2500, they'll cash it and let you in the door for your next appointment. I'd use the cash you have now to try and get some kind of business going. For a person as smart and organized as yourself, self employment can be a good way to go. Just find a niche and run with it. I've painted curbs, done landscaping, mobile car stereo installs, made bass tapes, ......all kinds of little things that were cheap and easy to get into and paid the bills for a while. I really think this electric bike thing is about to take off big and you definitely have a knack for it. I bet if you gave it some thought you could get some stuff going in your town.

Here's one idea.
Ordering stuff from China a few little pieces at a time generally sucks. It's inefficient, takes a long time, they don't pack stuff well sometimes, bad quality control, mis-communicated orders, stuff on perpetual back order, shipping damage, returns.... We all know Hobbyking has the best deal on batteries for now but I'm sure there are other people out there like me that don't want our credit cards going off to China for who knows what right now. I think that watching for popular items to come into stock from sketchy suppliers like them, then buying it, testing it, and reselling it could be quite profitable. If someone was willing to stock some good lipo from China, test/inspect/cycle the cells once they get over the pond, then resell the good ones, I'd gladly pay double for 30C lipo packs, and probably 30% over HK retail for nano tech stuff.

For instance, for many reasons, the batteries I just bought from you are worth more to me than new ones straight from hobbyking. Why? Basically, it's because I know what I'm getting. I've seen them on video! In use! You've cycled them a few times, given duds time to show up. You got lucky and got undamaged cells in the first place and kept them in good shape. And most importantly, my money is going to help another honest, nice, intelligent, contributing person that happens to be in a time of need instead of going to some dude in China....or some dude in Australia with a tiny percentage of it staying with the folks in China that do all of the work.

Another for instance. After HK sent me under-packaged, beat up batteries, compromised my credit card info, then ignored me, I didn't want to deal with them anymore so I put an ad up here looking for a turnigy 80-100 motor. I paid $200 for a used one with damaged during install but upgraded ceramic bearings, a new piece of shaft that didn't fit anything, and burnt windings. Even when it came in worse condition than I expected it to be in, it wasn't a bad deal to me. Bearings are cheap and windings need to be redone usually anyway. I ended up sending that motor to Thud for him to use for parts for the motor for AussieJester's new build after I boogered it up trying to get the stator loose.

My point is, there are a lot of companies out there that sell stuff people want but have BAD customer service. If you can find the popular products, catch them while they're in stock, and redistribute them with GOOD customer service, you're adding value, making money, and not having to have a boss.

Anyway, I hope some of that helps....

If you could get that stuff shipped out before the weekend, it would really help me out. I need to get some bikes done, and sold....... soon!......or curb the ebikes again and put up some landscaping flyers!

ICE,

upon further thought, my guess is that you're not the first one to buy it on this bump... presumably that's a warning sign up there and there's another facing your direction?

i'm not a fan of lawyers, etc, but considering your position at this point, i'd suggesting talking to someone, citing this road hazard and seeing at least if the city/county whomever could kick in for your medical bills at least. really can't hurt.

were you really speeding? no one needs to know... yank that vid down, and start making some calls...

Forcing the tax payers to pay for it with a lawsuit isn't the way to go. That bump is totally, easily ride-able at legal speeds on any bike and a judge will see that too. Ice is a good man with some brains. I'm absolutely positive that if/when he really needs help, his friends, family and community will be there voluntarily

I was going up the hill
Less than 20mph The sign is just a warning for bikes to slow down.. on the way down but not on the way up... its a bike on a a hill

In the video i slowed it down to normal speed to prove i wasnt doing any stunts.

Dude that sucks you have to sell off your gear.
This is the second time you've sold it all off isn't it ? Or 3rd ??
Let me know when the time comes to replace it all and I'll do my best to hook you up with what ever contacts I can.

Anyway I'm shooting you a token contribution now. I know first hand how much it can add up when everyone chucks in even a few bucks.

Thankfully healthcare is free here (well, paid for by our taxes) it cost me more to get a filling in my tooth from the local dentist than it did to have several hours of reconstructive surgery on my wrist (twice!) and then months of physio afterwards
