9c 2810 in a 700c wheel?

Postby jkbrigman » Mon Apr 30, 2012 10:36 pm

I'm considering trying a 9C DD motor in a 700c wheel. These motors aren't light - 10-12lbs minimum.
Has anyone out there ever built up a 700c or 29'er wheel with a 9C DD in it? If so, how's it working out?

I run a 2807 in a 29" wheel and I gt about 40-50Wh/mile with varying speeds all the way up to 38mph (tops out at 40mph with 66V nominal). I run cooling holes,100A phase current, 3.5kW peak battery power.... It's fun. The motor smells sometimes. I built it into a velocity chukker because Chinese rim came loose every ride. Actually, if youre looking for a great lace job, I'll sell u my motor if u want and u can swap in the 2810 or 2808... The windings are about shot and this motor has a bad history. I'm waiting for the cromotor to arrive. Rim and spoke job is solid.almost hitting 800 miles and is still perfectly true? I think the 2808 would've been more appropriate for my needs.

Definitely the easier way to change wheel sizes of a motor. Much quicker than lacing a wheel.
THE LIPO RULES. NEVER ABOVE 4.3V NEVER BELOW 2.7V DON'T PUNCTURE

I've got a 2807 and a 2810 in 700cs. Never had an issue with either.

For DD hubs, 12 pounds is light.
Buy the ticket, take the ride.

Hey hillzofalp - sorry for my (very) delayed response....
I have to pass for now on your offer - I already have the 2812 front motor, but I'll def keep it in mind. Were you wanting to do that horsetrade very soon now?

Lord have mercy, your 29er build is dead sexy......

I now have the parts (JRH sapim spokes and amazon-sourced 36H 700c rims) to build the motor into the wheel. Gonna take a shot at it tomorrow, will keep everyone updated....
