ping will build you pack to specific dimensions and in split sections if that helps. paypal charges him 8% for the transaction so you can ask him if he will give you some discount if you gift the money through paypal or do a wire transfer from your bank.

but you should also buy the large charger from him too besides the small one so you have backup chargers.

motors come and go but the battery is what you wanna keep for the long term so that's an investment. burning up the motor is an education. 48V15Ah is a good size. maybe 60% buy that one, but i am guessing from what i see here.

Get the ping. It should fit in your frame triangle in 48v 15 ah. But do check with a cardboard cutout of the battery dimensions before ordering.

You turn it on it's side, so it's only about 4" wide. This pic shows a box for a 48v 15 ah ping in the front triangle of my frankenbike. Couple of boards to support the metal toolbox.

63corvairsprint;
If you looking at headway batteries, here is another vendor's web

http://www.ebikedeal.com/lifepo4.htm

motomech;
quote"On the Ebike CA simulator, it looks like a top speed of 19 mph on 50V[20" wheel]. The stock controller is good for 63V, so you might throw some more bricks on the fire if you want see the other side of 20 mph.

I use a Lyen controller good up to 75v,

also for someone asking about CA, I had an CA plug added, but no CA yet

Ykick;

cool on all those Corvairs

I have sent out several direct emails asking for specific questions and have had most of the replies only answer certain questions and "skirt" around others.

I want a motor would for higher RPM as opposed to torque , but cannot determine which motor is being offered in the "kits".

I did get an email back from Jason and he said their controller don’t have a direct plug in for the CA, but no other details. The BMC I listed is the torque motor, they offer the speed motor, but not as an online option for that kit.

Do you still have all the extra control features with the CA when you just wire in as opposed to a direct plug into the controller, or are you only just plugging in line?

@Gary, I have been in the Corvair hobby for quite a few years, currently drive a 66 turbo Corsa coupe as my daily summer driver. I also own a restored 63 Corvair Sprint convertible ala John Fitch. Fun little cars. My 63 has the 4 carb engine as opposed to the stock 2 carb configuration like the one you recall.

That's a very nice kit. I have more or less the same kit that I got from another vendor a couple of years ago, but it was not as nicely finished as that one. Those connectors are deluxe! I'm in the process of re-doing many of my connectors and wiring and it's a PITA.
That motor is what I would call a "mid-wind", 250 no-load rpm @ 36V. The performance figures that Ebike supplies are very accurate. I see 23 to 24 mph on 48V w/ lite pedaling. Although I think mini-motors are better than most give them credit, it isn't a power house. Head winds and hills will give you plenty opportunity to pedal, but that is what you wanted, right.
BTW, I just checked my Cycle Analyst and was suprised to see my total mileage is approaching 1000 miles. No problems with either the motor or controller to report.

Next phase of my bike build in process..

Stand alone CA pre-wired with connectors
11-32 8 speed freewheel
1 hub spacer

Order submitted to Ebikeca …pending 1 question

And first big road bump to my timeline….

It would appear that Headway-Headquaters and Ebikedeal (both of whom are offering Headway cells) appear to be out and are both waiting for shipments to arrive sometime later this month. So my plan on using one of these particular domestic LifePO4 battery packs seems to be in jeopardy.

So now I am back to looking at Ping and Cellman, of whom both are out of the country…

Grrrr….

Just got a message from Jim at Headway-Headquarters that his batteries are now back in stock...

Now I just gotta figure out which configuration...

I found this.

I have no idea if it's legit, who it is, etc., but they claim the entire manufacturing process is in the USA.
