--Mac dealer or seller in Canada?--

Postby waynebergman » Thu May 17, 2012 10:03 pm

I want to buy a Mac 12t preferable from someone local here in Canada. Does anyone know of anyone that sells the Mac motors out of Canada?
Thanks Wayne

ebikes.ca sells ezee kits. That's the closest thing i know, and they dont' sell the ezee hub in such a high winding either.

Yes I have got my HS3540 from them and they are great to deal with. And you are right they only carry the ezee hubs so I will have to search around elsewhere. There must be someone in Canada that is a distributor for these motors.

None I have heard of. Emissions Free is going to be your source for a 12t. He's a very trusted vendor, so sending him money in china is not a risk. English speaker, good track record for CS. Sometimes slow, but worth the wait if he takes a few days off.
THE LIPO RULES. NEVER ABOVE 4.3V NEVER BELOW 2.7V DON'T PUNCTURE

Ideal charging /discharging range for Lipo, 3.65v minimum 4.1v maximum

See battery technology section, FAQ thread at the top of the page for lipo noob info.

Yes, it would be nice to get a local dealer to sell Mac motors and A123 batts. Although I am not worried about Emissions Free as a dealer, I am worried about the long distance after sales service. I was nearly temped to go toEmissions Free or a local dealer that had the Bafang 8FUN motor for an additional $250 but in the end, I lucked out and have been using the office electric bike with a Bafang 8FUN motor in it. If I had my ways, I'd bite the bullet and pay the extra for a local, trusted bricks and mortar store where I know I can get after sales service easily.

Looks like cell man it is then. I will wait patiently for his quote and hope for the best I guess. I have no doubt about his integrity etc but I just don't like the uncertainty of when it would arrive.
Thanks so far folks.
Hey dogman I know you are a fan of the slow wind bigger direct drive hubs. What do you think of me going this route with the mac 12t over the larger more heavy duty slow wound direct hubs. I have an HS3540 right now and its awesome. Love going 30mph on the open roads and it does pretty good on the trails even ok for climbing if I help it along on the steeper stuff. The thing is right now I want to go with an extra wheel set to swap out for when I want to ride some steeper trails and do some climbing. I am attracted to the Mac because of its weight and claims on good torque up to the 20mph that I would get with my 24" wheel and 48v lith mang & 35amp controller.

Cellman is a good guy, unfortunately the only fast thing about the transaction is the motor :D

I just got my upgraded mac 10t came with dual phase wires, and a super heavy duty rim. I have not tried it yet, but looks pretty swanky. Also has temperature sensor output.

Are you intending to use this motor primarily for OFFROAD use? I was trying to do the same thing months ago but was disuaded. Most people here don't recommend geared hubmotors like MACs for offroad saying that the gears are less up to the task of handling the extra shock and vibrations. So I stayed direct drive and got a slower wind 9C 2810 motor instead.

Hi Sacman
Yes it will be for off road use. From my research its going to be I think what I want. I have not liked the drag when coasting on the DD 3540 and also they are a bit heavy. I look forward to a lighter rear wheel set, more torque for hills and the better coasting that the mac will give me. I feel with the new composite gears and my light weight I will be happy with this choice.
